i have just this second picked up the above from my dealer for a AVR300 a/b demo comparison... both units brand new straight out of their boxes.

Well what can i say.... no contest really.

The 700/1000 combo is absolutely stunning.. more detail more depth more clarity ... just more everything really.. fantastic.

Dont bother with the 300 just buy this.

I can assure you that you will not be dissapointed.

    Well done Arcam.

Gives the fmj range something to seriously worry about!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you compare them with both the 300 and 700 connected to the amp, or did you use the 300s internal amps? I also own the 700, and I'm anxious to see it show up in some magazine reviews.

Good to hear, I'm hoping to borrow a 700 and 1000 from dealer soon so I can compare to the 300.

Since the first post i rang my dealer and told him he wasnt having them back.

I have owned a 300 for about 12 months and so this was a 300 vs 700/1000 comparison. i didnt bother using the 300 at all in the comparison. Maybe i should have but still its all set up, the Chord chorus xlr interconnects are on order and so are the taller posts for my q4 rack for it all to sit in.

Which now means im gonna be very, very poor indeed. - What the hell you only live once.
i may have to sell my soul and/or body. Any takers? :D

Congrats on the new 700/1000 purchase. I ordered a black AVP700 from my dealer here in the states today. I am still on the fence about which amplifier to order. As I have posted elsewhere I am concerned about how well the P1000 will handle my B&W 803's. etc.

Thanks im very pleased with it so far and it only keeps getting better.

As for your b&w's here are some specs from the 1000 manual:

    All channels driven 20hz-20khz, 8 ohm - 135/channel 945w total
Same load with 4 ohm 210w/channel 1.47kw total
One or two channels at 1khz 8 ohm - 190/channel
One or two channels at 1khz - 4 ohm 305/channel
One or two channels at 1 khz 3.2ohm 325/channel

A very impressive line up i think !!!!!!

The best thing to do is ask your dealer if you still arent sure

Any more info you need just ask, im thumbing throught the manuals at the mo

    Regards

Congratulations on your new purchase. I am hoping that I can report a similar experience sometime this week also. I received my P1000 last Friday and just have'nt had a chance to connect it yet. I've had the AVP 700 sitting in it's box for a few weeks waiting for the amp to arrive. I am going to try to connect it tonight. I am really looking forward to hearing how this is going to sound. This is my first venture into seperates and my first experience with Arcam components. I also picked up the Marantz DV-9500 to match with the Arcam kit. Looking forward to posting my experience soon.

Can't comment on the P1000, but the P7 is capable of driving far more difficult loads than the 803s

But, the P7 is about $3K US moe expensive than the P1000. That type of $$ brings a lot of other amps and manufacturers into play and I really don't think that I need to spedn 5K US for a good amp.
