I've watched this film and thought it was a very good action flick- well worth the purchase I'd say if you're a fan of the genre (AvP is more similar in vein to the "Predator" rather than the "Alien" films).

WHAT? Anderson aint made any decent films and this film is not any different. Complete rubbish might get it if it was 50p.

As for these special edition's he promises right about the time the film comes out its a con. Never happens he has said it about AvP to keep people happy cause of the pg action in it,but there is no plan to release a directors more gory verion of AvP it was shot for PG13 and fox have confirmed this.

    Idiot :suicide:

Totally agree with Jez, Paul Anderson is a kn*b, who rapidly produces some of the worst films ever seen. If your a (proper) fan of the Alien & Predator series, avoid @ all costs!!!! :nono: :nono: :suicide:

i was excited when i heard about the directors cut of AvP, but since delving a bit deeper, it seems he's promised DC's of Event Horizon and Resident Evil too and never delivered. This man is full of s**t! (Although the Event Horizon DC does exist, it's just not available.)

I didn't think AvP was a bad idea, it was just very poorly executed. Scenes where you needed to see some gore were just PG'ed to the max which was a big disappointment. I'll still buy it though... i can get a further £2.50 off that price at cd-wow, so it's not a total loss.

The promised R rated cut of AVP doesnt exist - it never has. AVP was shot as a pg 13 movie. As usual Anderson was lying about a directors cut.

    One man, one mission...

single-handedly destroy any chance of a decent franchise with any project he goes near despite the enormous fan-base.

No-one else could manage this surely?

As for the DVD, £11.99 still sounds a bit pricey for a disc that will (trust me) end up on the bargains shelf at Woolies before next years summer sale (along with Van Helsing no doubt!). Plus it does seem a rather early release so don't be surprised if CDWOW get 'slapped wrists' again, a la DOTD 2004 and have to put back the release date?

I saw this in the odeon last night with a few friends (6 of us altogether) and we all thought it was quite a good film. It was a bit slow to start with but when it got into it, it was really good. Just dont watch it as an alien or a predator film just watch it as and action film and you'll be fine.

Just ordered one for me and one for my mate too.

What happened with Dawn of the Dead 2004 as I knew CDWow ran out of stock very quickly and so did alot of other places but I thought this was due to not enough stock being produced which was why it hasent been available until recently or was there another reason?

It went on sale a good month or two (?) early via the HK distributor. The studio were not happy bunnies and made them pull stocks back so lots of customer orders went on hold until the official release date...

..and lots of copies appeared on Ebay at £30+

Ah, guess I was lucky then getting it for about £13 from Play Asia back in September.

Going back to AvP though, the R3 release of I Robot is due out on Tuesday and that is a good month before the R1 release so maybe Fox will let them release AvP on R3 early, will just have to wait and see I guess.

I wonder if Fox are trying to pre-empt pirates (which I understand are pretty common in Asai, although I may be corrected!) by releasing the DVD earlier there than elsewhere.

I saw the film, and whilst i suppose there are faults with it in terms of some Alien stuff. I would be lying if i didn't say that i enjoyed the movie, some good fight sequences etc.

as i say I think if there are any faults it is in terms of the Alien sidde of things than with the predator side, but if you look on this as a standalone action movie, you could certainly do worse.

With I Robot being put back to the end of November, I wouldnt be suprised if I get an email the day before the R3 release of AvP saying its now due for release at the end of January.

i seriously doubt that the release of r3 irobot will affect piracy as the r1 dvd of this has been available for a while in un official form!!!

How can you say 'it wont affect piracy,as it has been available for a while in an UNOFFICIAL form-that is piracy, whatever way you tell it!!
If it is released on dvd on any region, this is genuine.
    If not,this is just a copy/screener =PIRACY
(or if im wrong, please do tell where you can buy i,robot??) :rotfl:

I think he means an official Region 3 release wont effect piracy as the Region 1 DVD has already been leaked onto the internet and is no doubt being mass produced in pressing planets in Asia as we speak.
If they were going to release it early on R3 to try and cut down on pirates copies they are too late.

Well its happened just like the I,Robot disc. Got this from CDWOW this morning:

We have been advised that the International release date for this title
has been postponed to the 11/01/2005. We will dispatch this item to
you upon the date of release. As soon as your order is dispatched we
will send you an e-mail message confirming the shipment of this item.

I will just cancel so. Only ordered it because it seemed to be coming out so early!
