    Hi,

So Im about to order a DS from videogamesplus.ca - seems like a very good deal - a couple of questions

    - how many people have ordered from these guys and avoided the import tax - or if you were hit how much was it ?

    - also the price it quotes is 249CAD but then it also quotes a price for shiopping of 49CAD .. does anyone who has ordered from these guys know how much it was - its the console + Mario 64 bundle Im looking for !

    Nige

I honestly think you're best off waiting until it gets released here. It's being released in Australia soon, so Europe will (should) follow shortly, and by then there'll be a few more games out and you don't have to suffer the high prices or importing one.

The price on the site of 249CAD converts to £110.32 (there's an option on the right hand side of the screen to display in British Pounds) so by my calculations that means that the bundle that you're after at a total of 298CAD equates to £132.01 which is pretty damn good I'd say :) . Oh and by the way Mario is superb  .

let us know how you get on.

Despite the fact that I am besotted with my PSP at the moment, the DS is still a fine console. I recommend Ridge Racers (unless you are getting a PSP in which case don't bother) and feel the Magic as games to get. the latter really shows off the special features of the DS.

Oh and mario does, indeed, rock!

You might want to reconsider my recommendation on Feel the magic, however!

Finished it in just about an hour of gameplay. innovative, yes! VFM - NO!

So no soooner had links msg came in regarding never paying import fees when I checked my tracking

January 17, 2005 08:43 East Midlands - UK Shipment on hold

Doh ! could this mean itsbeing held for something to be paid - I called them up but my mind was put to rest when the girl said it just missed the delivery truck to cambridge and would be sent tonight ready for delivery tomorrow.

I dont want to jinx it but if it does come tomororw this will have been the best import experience EVER bar none and VideoGamePlus will get a bit clap on the back from me and become my new importer !!

Ah the memories of Mario are all coming back to me now that I've finally had a bit of time to get stuck into it. Did you have it on the N64 ?.

So did you recieve any charges? or do DHL invoice you after the delivery as I read of others getting packages and then recieving a bill a few weeks later.

So first impressions - very very impressed... (more screens on my photo blog linked above) So where do we start ..

    - the build - okay its never going to win any prizes in the sexy awards but its not as bad as some people are making out. It feels pretty comfotable in the hand especially now as you can use a finger (rather than a thumb) to control your char - of course this wouldnt work if the left shoulder button did something else other than fire
    - the cartridges - small and very very sexy (http://monkeyonthemove.textamerica.com/?r=1940293) I just need somewhere to store them now so I dont loose them
    - the screen - crisp and bright and it even makes the old SP games look better - no dead pixels on mine either which was a relief :)
    - the sound - oh my goodness - its the best sound on a handheld I have ever experienced - when its in surround mode it manages to do a very very good job. Outside the castle in mario with the birds tweeting etc it actually had me looking at my PC speakers thinking that something random was going on !! Very Very Good ! It also cuts the right balance between FX and music !
    - the games - okay Ive only got the one (demos aside) but this really is an N64 in my pocket - mario is fantastic - fab fab fab
    - controls - wow the touch screen works so well it really does - just make sure your fingers are nice and clean :) But yer it works very well !

So im very very impressed with this little device - Im not saying its better / worse that the PsP etc .. I just really like this little device - I'll also be getting the PsP but for now the DS is well worth it - and VGP is also an absolute cracker for importing ..£125 including postage and mario, 6 day delivery avoiding import tax !!!

    Im very happy !
