Both Avia and Video Essentails are NTSC.
There are new versions of both in the offing and I understand they will have PAL on too.

Does any one have any further info or dates yet.

I must be sad I'm looking forwards to a new test disk coming out.:)

I thought Richard Ansell said that the next AVIA and VE wouldn't have PAL, but would be much better then the old ones.

Have to hope he spots this I suppose.

I have a copy of the new VE on order at Amazon. Release is supposed to be 15th Novemeber. It's my iunderstanding that it's against DVD consortium rules to have a disc that can be outptu at both PAL and NTSC formats. To this end I think they are doing two versions of VE, PAL and NTSC! This is just hearsay so far though as I have yet to get any confirmation.

What I hear from my contacts is that there is likely to be a 'significant' delay in the release of VE2. Like even Jan 18 could be optomisitic! That's all I can say at the moment.

There are due to be two versions of VE2, one PAL, one NTSC - They will be two different disks, so you'll need to buy both to calibrate for multiregion (theoretically!).

I don't know anything about Avia or what their plans may be, I'm afraid.

Hope this is of some help.

I have now ordered VE from DC-DVD for about £33, I can't be arsed to wait for a PAL version.

Richard - how about S&W knocking up a little iScan Pro-type gizmo with variable scaling rates, a dvi input/output, remote control for about £500?
