    Hi:

    I have a SONY DCR-HC42E Video Camara.

I tranfer all my movie, using a Fireware cable, to my Hard Drive.
Movie on hard drive its an avi file, but its to large, about 20GB.

My question is... how can record my movie to just one DVD?
Wich program can i use to do it?
Or, can i pass my movie from MiniDV tape with 60 minutes to PC in corrent size to put on a single DVD?

Other thing... with software can i use to put text and other effects on my movie?

I dont understand so much of video software, so, if you could help me telling a easy softwares it is awnsome.

Theres just one software that do all this jobs?

    Thanks to all

AVI has to be encoded into Mpeg 2 in order to fit onto a DVD which holds 4.7GB. The speed at which any encoding program works is determined by the strength of your system,ie, video card,RAM and processor, the bigger the better.

I use Movie Edit Pro 2005 from Magix.
It captures raw AVI from my camcorder and has lots of effects for video and audio,it's user friendly and quite easy to learn.
It costs about £40 here in the UK.

There are countless other video editing programs out there, the king of them all being Sony Vegas or Adobe Premier, which will set you back a lot of Escudos.

Perhaps some more knowledgable folks here can point you in a better direction. Hope this helps.
    John.

    Hi goldc0der

If your PC is running Windows XP, take a look at MovieMaker - it's part of XP and is free.... make sure you download the latest version from Microsoft though... which you will already have if you have installed SP2.
Then take a look here for everything else you need to know!

If you haven't got XP, MovieMaker won't work though....

No, Movie Maker can not do any file conversion. To create a DVD from your edited AVI file you will need a DVD authoring program such as Ulead DVD Movie Factory that willl cost you around £30.
Some of the slightly more expensive editing programs include the tools to create a DVD, such as Ulead Movie Studio 9, Pinnacle Studio 9, Sony Vegus Studio etc.

Adding Text to your video can be done in all editing programs including Movie Maker 2.
