As the title says, i want to be able to download movies from the net (which generally give me a .avi file extension) and run them from my pc, to my 360 so i can watch them on my tv.

I'm able to locate them in WMC on my 360, but can;t play them cause it says im either missing a codec or the file is corrupt (which isn't the case).

    Is this possible?

DivX/Xvid can only be played directly from the 360 dash at present, they aren't supported through the Media Centre extender :(

It's annoying but we might get an update in future to correct this...

    Hope this helps

    Try this Link

As the page says some free software that converts .AVI files to files the 360 can use.

Just use the media blade and select Videos. This will save you having to do any converting, as the 360 now plays Divx files.

Just google transcode360 and use that to be able to play divx files in wmc.

Don't use Media Centre,. use Windows Media Player. DivX is only support by WMP Sharing - not Media Centre Extenders.

    Rubbish, but true.
