You were asking how many people have 4k TVs without HDR... I would say the real question to ask is how many people have HDR in name only, and the answer to that is "lots" or "everyone with a non-FALD or OLED TV".

A Samsung 6 series or a Sony 7 series will not really benefit from the HDR tier, the experience may even be better with 4k SDR than 4k SDR because the backlight is not maxed out.

      Thanks everyone.

LG's Now & Next - still a bit fiddly, but if you click right you get a banner appearing on the right side, provides a now & next option.

Chaps it's a bit too soon for Novichok jokes considering the poor woman died yesterday! (Re- Refs afraid of touching their front doors).

True, but it doesn't take much to realise that there was a strong possibility of this outcome. Some of us have friends and family in the area and it just comes across as very cheap & crass.

      Great pod cast, yet again!

One you did miss was the glider sequence in “Escape from New York” one of the finest movies ever made! Bring back Snake Pliskin!

Hi Phil, have you come across this Screen dimming issue which Steve highlighted on Sony OLED? As Steve highlighted it was following a firmware update.

And if someone returned the Sony OLED due to the dimming issue this is seriously a negative. Based on DOLBYVISION time to update people might be stuck with this screen dimming problem for a long long long time.

I agree £12.99 for Netflix is still superb value, but without any new features it is hard to gain market acceptance.

My 2 issues with Netflix is:
      1. Recently added and New Releases is confusing, plus they are not all new programs. They should fix this glitch.
      2. Some Netflix made movies/dramas have badly compressed audio. If I listen to the same movie streamed from iTunes on Apple TV it sounds night and day better.

Perhaps Netflix could allow more bandwidth on this new premium tier that allows 25-30mbps instead of the very restricted 15.26mbps and that way they don’t need to compress the hell out of the audio.

Yep a good point, my TV being one of those.

But this is not why Netflix is doing this. It's a simple price hike for those they think will pay for it. Just like issuing *hite UHD Blu Rays at its launch. The hope is people with capable sets and desires will pay extra or watch rubbish films just because its the top flight format.

IF Netflix offered UHD package for the same price and a 4K only tier at a cheaper price, then yes, they might be thinking of those with crappy HDR sets. But it's not.

For what it's worth, I'm not saying I'm angry with this when Netflix fess up and just call it a price hike. My present crappy HDR TV would still not stop me from paying a bit more for HDR as just like most UHD content, it's not really about the resolution.

My larger grumble is there is very little content I can watch in front of the 9yo daughter. I'd love Netflix to do some better family rated content. My daughter keeps asking what Stranger Things is like. Sadly at 9yo she cannot find out yet.

I discussed and highlighted the dimming issue quite a few weeks ago in my long term testing of the Sony AF8 OLED TV and have mentioned it a few times on the podcast, it is also documented in my review on the site. You must have missed those episodes. It still happens now on the TV - it's a retail sample and here for the rest of the year. We will come back to the subject when there are any developments.

In this weeks Podcast it was mentioned that there might not be that much difference between HDR10 vs DOLBYVISION.

However, it looks different to me on my calibrated LG OLED’s where HDR10 [oled light = 100] vs DOLBYVISION [oled light = 50].
Basically HDR10 looks allot brighter, but not necessarily better, to my eyes anyway.

Thanks gents. Steve's comment at Cas working up towards the ultimate home cinema after winning the lottery made me chuckle. I agree with Steve!

BTW Red Sparrow UHD is still the censored 15 classified version. Occasionally, distributors choose to go uncut 18 but not in this case.

Thanks gents - It would be great if you can get the Panasonic for a long term test and comparing HDR10 with DV.

Sounded as though Steve had a third leg when talking about The Rock's new film. Seen the trailer and a definite miss for me.

Finding HDR content on Amazon. As Cas mentioned it is difficult to find HDR content. The only way I know how to do this is by scrolling down and then in Categories clicking on UHD 4K = this is a category. Not very good because then you have to scroll across the programs to find what you are looking for.

Also the updated Amazon interface is much worse now. Previously you could filter and view Prime Content only, but now you have to navigate your eyes around stuff for sales and other crap.

Sky contract for HBO exclusives runs out in 2019. I hope after that we get the option of subscribing to HBO NOW in the UK. Great to see SHOWTIME as well.

Just caught up with the podcast. Great like always, I did chuckle at the football ref not being able to ever touch his door knob again without gloves,

Just listening Earth & Heaven, well worth a purchase thanks.
