Cheers for another podcast, I think you should have and old but still gold category for tv's, not everyone can splash out a few grand every year and it's interesting to see what Tv's stand the test of time.

My vote goes for my 9 year old Kuro 600krp. Ancient I know and full HD no HDR....but.......the picture is still stunning, Blue planet 2 looks amazing, no motion problems and just a very "natural" looking picture not over processed like so many I see.
I Thought about going to see justice league....but when the trailer consists of the cast begging you to go and watch it you know a turkey will ensue

This is a weird thing that’s started in the last 12 months, a film’s star/cast popping up ahead of the trailer to ask you to go and see the film. Isn’t that what the trailer is for?

Should expect it now that we get teasers for trailers, and trailers for adverts.

Thanks for this week's edition and in particular the best of the year awards - Your rationale behind each category and the winners was logical. Looking forward to Ed's list next week. What are the other categories?

Just saw an advance screening of The Disaster Artist, loved it :D

But you absolutely should see 'The Room' first. Best enjoyed in a group so you can all laugh along. Pure gold :p

I think you should put a version of the podcast out where you only cut the the minimal stuff. I would love a longer version of the podcast with all the rants and off tangents all included.
      A great podcast as always.

Also wouldn't mind a longer version of the podcast.

I actually quite liked justice league didn't need to be longer either then it just starts to drag, found the character intros just long enough don't need an origin story or motivation for a superhero movie beyond the bad guy is evil the good guys are (mostly) not (don't even need it it for something like die hard) just a decent/fun plot line.

If you are prepared to pay for the (excellent) legal representation we'd likely need in doing so, we can consider it for 2018.

I'm vaguely interested in this W7 wall mounted thin TV. Mrs MB wants a TV "that doesn't dominate the room" (what does that even mean??) like our current 42" plasma from 2015. I thought that would have to mean a smaller sized unit (potentially same sized screen - mine has a big border). However, maybe a thin screen for the wall might do the trick.

Maybe i'm smoking drugs, but i'm a desperate man. I'd really like an OLED but they are too big. Help me....

      MB

PS thanks for the podcast !

I watched the Disaster Artist last night and really enjoyed it. Not only had I not seen the Room, I had never even heard of it (I effectively watched the Disaster Artist without knowing anything about it beforehand).

I think The Disaster Artist can be enjoyed if you've seen the Room but I wouldn't say that it's mandatory - as the narrative focus is predominantly on the characters. That said, there is enough background information about the Room, towards the end.

I see that my local independent cinema is screening the Room on my wife's birthday. Think that's her evening sorted (now - how do I break the news to her?).

Great poddy once again guys and many thanks for the editor's choice TV awards. I found the article (and this podcast) to be highly descriptive and well argued - I've passed on the link to some of my chums who are keeping an eye out for new TV sets.

Just wondering now what CES 2018 will bring... HFR? More support for HDR-10+ / Dolby Vision? Not long to go now. :)

Did I hear Phil say he never had Christmas tree or decorations in his house for over 20 years and then Steve say "no wonder you're on your own". Is Phil single now? I assumed he was married

No wife would let her husband have a Mustang as the ' family ' car.
