All about economies of scale and at the moment prices are over £20K for 77" OLED panels. Given that, it will likely be around a decade (at an educated guess) assuming they continue to make them, before they come down to something that is more affordable.

The 2017 Loewe OLED is available for under £12,000 so I for one am hoping it's not too long before we see them under £10K which is when I will bite.

2k for a 4k projector and screen. 2.5k at a push. 3k for the a very good one.
If you are into home cinema a pj is a no brainer.

As said in podcast, it just looks better than a TV too.

Always used to watch "The hitman and her",when we got home from the Friday or Saturday night at the pub/club/party. It's something you can't watch sober.

Good to hear Ed is recovering. He's lucky he didn't have the leg version of my current appendage...

Used to have a wee crush on Michaela , cant believe I used to watch that rubbish!

Oled prices continue to tumble, assuming LG have dropped their prices slightly earlier this year compared to last due to competition, I managed to bag the 65" C7 for £2700 thanks to a voucher glitch on Curry's and a good spot on the Oled price changes thread OLED Price Changes , but I have no doubt it will be this price to all soon. Just when you think you have a great deal, a few weeks later its bettered, one member was saying he wouldn't bite until a 2017 model hit £2k, most responded saying you will be waiting until Christmas/Ces2018 and here we are.
I sat on the fence for a long time, worried especially as Mark had mentioned about motion, happy to report I haven't come across much that has made me think I should have kept my plasma.
The OS, upscaling, motion, inky blacks and HDR gaming are superb, I really hope oled filters down to the masses, its a cracking technology.
There is great competition among the 55", just need 65" to come down too.

I remember "The Hitman and Her". Woeful stuff although probably quite highbrow compared to much of today's TV.

On another note, I have to say I'm really surprised you didn't talk about the recent announcement that Amazon is closing LoveFilm by post. It's quite a significant (and symbolic) announcement that would have covered so many of the bases of what you guys discuss....

The next film will be about Obi Wan? Wasn't he supposed to be lying low as he was the last Jedi and knew too much? Hence hiding in a cave for years?

A 75" in TV would look a fair bit bigger to my 65". So imagine what an 85" - 100" image would look like!

As long as I had a 65"+ TV for HDR, I'd pick projection for sure.

In regard to Star Wars, I totally agree. But it seems Disney have gone all DC Comics on us instead of Marvel. No imagination. ZERO. An infinite Star Wars universe to choose from and all we get are backstories no-one wants to see. They bought the golden ticket and while that have already made their money back already (or very nearly), it really does seem that's all they cared about.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and while I'm sure Lucas would still have messed them up if he did make any more, I'm not sure how much I care about Disney's cash-in anymore. I'm am still hoping for an original cut Blu Ray like EVERYONE else, but there are other options with some very high quality fan made versions.

As for GoT, it is very apparent there is no book to follow for these last seasons. A cracking pace increased so far, with even more "wait, wasn't he just on the other side of the country?!!". But they clearly have given up on how fast mad can travel on a horse or boat. I just wonder what they will do with the Jon Snor *cough* spoiler *cough*. I'm thinking it might just have been made for us fans, despite the honking great confrontation. I love getting into great TV series very last or even when the show is done. I think I would have liked GoT a whole lot more blitzing it, as there is a LOT i dont like about that I think watching one a week added a great deal to my frustration.

Anyway great podcast as always guys. liking the slightly longer shows. Helps if there is plenty to talk about, but I'm very happy with these 1 and good plus edits.

Very thorough team update. Pleased that Ed is on the mend.

@Phil Hinton - Good on you for for the weight loss. If i might offer some advice (I think we are similar age and i've been "various weights" myself) - Find an exercise that works for you personally and commit to it. You might need to try a few things. Personally i work much better in groups (lazy otherwise). So i got bored in the gym but then joined the karate club there and worked harder in a group of 20 odd. More recently i cycled to work and tried to up the pace for the exercise, but by joining a cycling club i work much harder as there's normally a dozen of us. Plus i get to fit in exercise whilst commuting to work so it's not much "extra" time. Best of luck.

Looking forward to the AV part of the podcast !

:facepalm:Pasted from another thread which was a mistake and has now been deleted.

Usual standard of poddy guys  ;) where I listened to it here in America. We're at Anaheim at the mo where Disneyland is and there is no mention (at least from what I can see) of the upcoming Star Wars film. We wil be going to Universal in a couple of days. The main reason we're here is that daughter no1 is at Berkeley Uni doing a PhD in chemistry with a little bit of X-ray crystallography thrown in for good measure. We also allowed daughter no 2 to come with us as we didn't know what else to do with her.

By the way wifey took a couple of piccies of yours truly in Hollywood which I will plaster on the Forums when we get back. One is on the "walk of fame" with the plaque of one of our heroes the late Ray Dolby, and the other one is outside what used to be the Kodak theatre now renamed the Dolby theatre, or should that be theater. Actually it is spelt the English way as "theatre" believe it or not. From your favorite (sic) avforums London taxi driver.... LT.

"Hey, just what you see pal."

It wasn't until someone pointed it out that I realised that the 29th of August is Judgement Day... 20 years ago!

I'm not proud of this very specific sci-fi knowledge . It's just that they made the end of the world as we know it on my birthday. It wasn't clear in the film if i still had to buy cakes for the office, or if i was fighting for the existence of our species first.
