I agree with Ed. Sky needs to cop onto themselves and stop throwing sh*t loads of my subscription fee to overpaid tossers involved in football which I have zero interest in. I am very close to dropping the entire service and saving €84 a month considering 90% of what I watch on Sky is available for free elsewhere.

Another enjoyable podcast and I can only guess the beep machine was malfunctioning
Any chance of Steve covering the ongoing debate about the demise of 3D with any figures he can obtain through his contacts. I'm sure that Ed would appreciate some support as would others with an ongoing " debate " on one of the forums.
Interesting to read and hear Steve's review about the Oppo and agree about the price aspect. Guess I might have to go for a Panasonic in the end, albeit the SACD feature is a big attraction in my spec' requirements.
Can't get the image out of my head of Phil cruising around in the Mustang listening to La La Land at full volume. Are you wearing a Hibs shirt at the same time?
Not sure how Scottish football can be exciting with the one horse race involving Celtic.
Currently listening to Sohn thanks to Ed's recommendation. 8/10 so far.
TV show worth watching - Quarry on Sky Atlantic. Quite brutal at times.

I purchased the Philips OLED last week from a German seller on eBay, it arrived today and I think it looks fantastic.

As an all round proposition I agree it is expensive but the combination of OLED and Android TV and Ambilight is a really amazing mixture. Ambilight adds to the experience, and despite the issues with Android TV as a platform it does have unrivaled search and of course the ability to Google Cast!

I am very interested in the whole review Steve puts out.

Ok, my fiancee likes Prog Rock (Mainly Marillion, Pendragon, Yes, Genesis, IQ).
We enjoy going to Summers End Prog Festival at Chepstow (unashamed plug) every year.
Gentle Giant were a splendid band, I understand that there wasn't any drugs involved in the making of the albums but there may have been alchol (TBC).
Trivia fans, I own the exact Thorens 240-2 turntable that Ed Selley reviewed in October 2016 in another publication.
BTW, I live in Bath which I believe means I'm close to one of you splendid fellows...
Keep up the good work, I find it informal and amusing on my 'Commute' to Bristol...

Last photo (excuse the mess) is the 8901 65" Ambilux with the 901F OLED in front. Don't worry I'm not keeping them both in that position. The legs on the oled are wider than the ambilux.

There is worse crap programming on Sky. I generally know when the missus has got hold of the remote. Just changed to Sky Q and she is struggling with the UI. Won't tell her it can record more channels simultaneously compared to the old HD box.

      Cheers, another great podcast.

This is the straw that might break the camels back. Sky can shove it. No Eurosport!

Most of the sport I watch is on Eurosport. Any form of endurance racing(cars and bike) British superbike, world superbike, cycling, biathlon.

      NEVER FOOTBALL

Eurosport player is on offer £19.99 for a 12 months contract, finishing tonight.

Thing is Sky put my entertainment package cost up last year to cover the cost of buying the football for their sports channels,

Now I don't have a sky sports subscription because I hate football but I had to pay anyway! The sports subscription stayed the same, it was our packages that went up!

Time for the sports subscribers to re pay the favour as far as I'm concerned.

I like wheeler dealers, fast n loud, gold rush etc..... As much as they like football!

Many thanks gents once again for another excellent podcast. I'm a bit sceptical about some of the so called safety features (as Phil mentioned, a large amount of them are electronic) that are required to bump up the number of stars in accordance with NCAP.

For example, my friend bought a 2015 Polo and was driving along a stretch of road with two lanes of traffic on both sides (like a dual carriageway minus a dividing strip). She was in the overtaking lane when all of a sudden, her car braked automatically to a halt and her dash board lit up. Driver behind her was understandably furious, blaring his horn and giving all sorts of gestures.

Turns out what had happened was her collision warning system had kicked in. It detected a vehicle in the opposite overtaking lane and took it upon itself to halt the car.

Thanks for the Oppo review and the price differences are interesting. Does anyone know if other UHD players are as easy to make region free for DVD / blu-ray?

Great podcast as usual and great news about the Discovery saga being sorted.
I recently tried the PS4 VR at a friends house for a few hour's and I was blown away ,it was amazing and Game changing. Mr Withers was bang on the button when he said how good it was a few week's back.
Are budget projector's going the same way as current TV's in the demise of 3d or will they hopefully keep this feature. I want a 3d projector in the next 18 months but don't want to purchase just yet.

Regarding looking forward to Arrival on UHD... you said it was 4K DI but according to this it is only a 2K DI so another fake 4K disc which I don't think Hollywood should be getting away with selling - they are really just HDR+WCG upscaled Bluray discs for twice the price.
