AVForums Hot Topics - Week 2

Distinguished Member
We know at least a couple of you were interested in our first outing for this feature and we here at AVForums are committed to providing a personal service so we'll persevere in bringing you a rundown of the most popular forum topics of the last 7 days. So, without further ado, here's what's been looked at most in the last week.

Sony's woes with the hacking of PlayStation Network continue to draw the most discussion with our beleaguered Call of Duty players discussing anything and everything, outage related, in the APOCALYPS3 Now: Redux thread, which takes number one spot this week with over 6,000 views. They're not happy and they need to express themselves - think of it as an online support group for disenfranchised gamers!

Last week’s number 1, also discussing the PSN outages, has slipped down the list but that's probably down to the fact it has already reached Part 3 of proceedings (we close off threads at around 1,000 posts and create a new thread. Part 3 means there are over 2,000 posts on the subject).

As if Sony wasn't drawing enough talk, at number 2 is a somewhat moralistic debate on the rights and wrongs of the Japanese giants' terms and conditions over PlayStation 3 ownership and removal of features. Who owns your PS3, you or Sony? Find out in the rather literally and lengthily titled Sony claims you do not own your PS3 when you have paid for it thread that's attracted around 5,300 hits since last Wednesday.

Just inside the Top 10 hottest threads is one about a nifty little iPad App that, and we quote the opening poster, "let's you drag and drop with iTunes with no converting or sync wirelessly". The App goes by the name AV Player HD, costs a rather measly £1.79 and has already scaled the heights of the paid for content in the App Store. See what the fuss is about and whether it meets expectations in this thread, which whilst not having a vast amount of replies, has gained around 1600 views.

Our Members Home Cinema Gallery forum has always proved popular and new AVForums Member KrustyMiller has a well visited thread following the rather dramatic transformation of his living room - he's a white gloss fetishist by the looks of things. Krusty's thread is just outside the Top 10 at number 11. Pop in to have a look and, indeed any of the other threads in the home cinema gallery, to get some ideas for your own projects or just to have a plain old nosey. Warning - some of the pictures may leave you feeling a little envious!

Is AV your passion? We hope so but if you're feeling a little jaded with your hobby of choice, have a look here for some likeminded souls and also chat from those that are still keen as mustard. The thread sits in the basement of AVF towers, in our General Chat area, so expect off-topic banter amongst the more sober posts and has exactly 1400 views, at the time of writing.

Everybody likes a deal, right? Then why not see what bargains can be had through our Classifieds section that has no less than 8 entrants in the Top 50. Likewise our Bargains and Discount Codes area provides multiple threads in the Top 50 and is definitely worth a visit if you're planning to spend your hard earned in the near future.

Coming up in the near future we have reviews on the extremely hotly anticipated JVC DLA-X9 3D projector as well as one for the InFocus SP8604 and Optoma's 3D-XL box. We will also have a look at our first Sony TV of 2011 and Russell has had his hands on the Teufel Concept D 500 THX speaker package. Find out the verdicts in our Hardware Review section. With new kit arriving on an almost daily basis, at the moment, it's a very busy time for us! We also provide the best Blu-ray reviews on the net so pop in here to see what makes them so good.

That's all for now folks but, barring mass protestation; we'll be back next week.

Hot Topics must stay. It will get readers to discover more areas of the site.

I normally stick to just a few subjects and never go anywhere near the gaming threads, but the PS3 ownership debate looks interesting so I will have a look and possibly find other threads of a more general interest than just Game Play discussion.

Keep up the good work AVF crew.
