as it says in the title. im sure we can get enough people but we need a host with a decent connection. im afraid i only have 1mb which i doubt will be sufficient for a 16 man halo match. think we can meet up by all of us adding the future host to our friends list then having a pw on the server for arguments sake avforums hehe. then well all join and have a night to remember fella's

anythoughts please leave your gamertag and wether you have the possibility to host :hiya:

    XBLiver GamerTag: CowieCTU

available all day tomorrow to play as im staying off due to "illness"

    I've got a 512k upload ater 6pm.
I haven't set-up live yet though but as my router is only 2 feet away from the Xbox and I have plenty of network cables knocking about it shouldn't prove too difficult (touchwood).

I'll buy a Live kit today to beat the rush tomorrow.

Doesn't Live dynamically select the host best suited to run the game though (ie the highest bandwidth connection)

I'm always open to invites... I've a 1.5mb up/256kb down too, which would prob host 8ish? I've seen something somewhere that says the host switches automatically to whoever has the best connection anyways, but we'll see. Give me a shout! :D

i was on yesterday in a room hosted in america who said he was on a 1mb connection, has 12 people in room and played as smooth as a baby's bottom. Only gripe is that you have to press the white button before you can talk, which on the old 'duke' pads its miles away from the right analogue stick. Lorenzini, send me an invite when you get online tomorrow.

Mr D you seem like the best candidate for the host if thats ok with you ?. righty im out at the moment i'll keep track of who wants to join. shall we have a limit on # of players ? im thinking 6-8 a side.

i know there have been 12 seperate people on this forum who will get it so lets hope they see the thread

remember guys add you gametag to the thread :smashin:

edit sorry most of you have it in your sig's. no probs if it aint in the sigs just add it to thread. im getting very very excieted already :D

I'd say lets try for the max number of players initially and see if it chokes.
Like said I'm sure that Live will dynamically designate the host depending on ping time so even if we nominate a server it may not stay there.

I read that the host is the person who the game decides has the best connection.

certainly I played several 8 player games which were very smooth, not sure about babies bottoms though.

There are currently some halo3 live problems.
I could not respond to iamtheone's messages, and had trouble inviting.

    good maps though
    I'll be on - Bonesy

Also, there is two types of talking.

if you talk, everyone can hear you, if they are near enough.

so when you get shot, you can hear the enemy laughing :(

if you press the white button, only your team can hear you, but they hear you regardless of distance.

    very cool.

Will hopefully get Halo2 through the post tomorrow.

I've also got the 1mb download, 256k upload speeds.

Gamertag is sleepyoneuk, if someone wants to add me too their friends list that would be cool, I have no friends yet :(

Might be good to get the AV Forum (FU/K) Clan involed against some of the non-clan members.....

God damn it, why did I decide to redecorate the lounge now. All my kit is in bits. Must plaster faster.....

I was suggesting to Cap last night that we go for an ALLNIGHTER on Saturday.

    A. Give everybody time to get copy and.
    B. I work Saturday's but not Sunday's

the best matches are going to be the assault matches or bomb modes i think they are called on halo 2. slayer and team slayer get boring very easy for me, as i like to have an objective or objectives to complete to win the game. maybe its just me but deathmatches bore the hell out of me. anybody else sick of DM's ?

I think it's fair to say that Bonesy and I got a whipping at this tonight.
Ok so it was against the Yanks and they have had the game a bit longer than us but at times it was embarrassing.
My excuse was the teams - there were 3 in one particular game and all the team colours were very similar, need I go on.......
There are so many game modes that you need a degree when hosting to understand it all, let alone play them and know what's going on - this should add even more to the longevity of the game.

All in all really impressed. I only played for several hours (seemed like minutes) and feel I've got a lot to learn yet. A lot of thought has gone into this.
There's so much to it that I can't really do it justice here.

It's a definite  from me.
Had a really good laugh tonight and that's what counts.
I'll be back on it Thursday night if anyone wants a game.

Would be interesting to see if they are using mouse and keyboard. Using that instead of a Joypad would mean you would have no chance.

Definite  from me too! Played for a couple of hours, and it just flew by. Understanding the game modes and what that means you have to do is key - read up before you go online. Very smooth, nice voice comms, but I keep forgetting you have to press the white button to talk to teammates (note - manual says you only have to tap white, it then keeps your voice comms channel open til you stop talking - nice touch if true).

    Back on again soon!

what time shall we get this battle going ? if we designate a host there is an option to host a game without live picking the best host. so we all add the gamer tag of the host to our list and all join and fight

Well, got my LTD edition from Amazon this morning, so they turned up good after all the slagging they were getting...

I've clocked about 3 hours online so far (about 30 mins offline - keep getting invited - Live aware games can be interrupted like that - but thats a good thing). When you log on at first, its all a bit confusing, but the important thing is to see what the game type is - oddball, capture the flag, king of the hill etc as its important to enjoying the room if you know what you're supposed to be doing.

All the people I've heard complaints from don't seem to know what they're supposed to be doing. I love the way it sets up matches too - no more setting up a room and inviting people - you just invite people to your party and they follow you whichever room you happen to end up in. And the room matches experience too, making stats games more evenly matched, although people don't seem to do them as you can't control the exact gametype. Got to master everything all people! Its growing on me...

The way to do it is when you log on, spot the name of someone from this thread, and then join their party. It turns out to be kind of irrelevant who the host is. You'll see

when u next on lorenzini add me "CowieCTU" :smashin: most ppl in a server is 16 i think so looks like first come 1st serve i thinks. im not the biggest fan of setup but it is sort of convenient. i wish there was a lobby to look through what maps, gamemodes are being played etc instead of using optimatch for each category.
