    Hi all

I'm building a home cinema in a converted barn - and am not far off completion (the structural stuff anyway!).

I plan to use a ceiling mounted screen and a projector - but will want to use a plasma on the wall for daytime use.

My question is, and I know it is a difficult one to answer - but how far away should I keep my screen from the wall when it is lowered - to enable to to retrospectively fit a plasma on the wall behind it (for those daylight hours and parties)?

    Thanks in advance

    Simon

My PHD8's front face is 12cm from the wall (using a slimline wall mount).

    Hope this helps.

I have a wall mounted plasma and drop down screen as well. I gave it 20cm to be comfortable. Depends on the diameter of the rod on the base of the electric screen though, so measure once, then measure again. If you're using a standard wall bracket though (no tilt/cantilever) the front of the plasma is unlikely to be more than 15cm from the wall.

A PV500 sticks out 14.5cm and is one a the fattest ones, so give it 20cm and you should be ok, unless you feed it too many mince pies at chrimo :D

You've got your PV500 in very very tight there Mal, 95% of mounts make vieras 180 com thick.
My screen drops down at 125mm, clearing the plasma by 5mm, it's a PHD8, and the weight bar on the screen is 10mm thick. I've done it tighter than this before, by providing a 'ramp' at each side to ensure the bar never snags on the plasma in a draught. The screen can then run down the last 60 or so cm in a kind of 'track'. If the room is big, this is a good idea anyway, as larger rooms always have air currents, making a simply hanging screen flap about.
