Average Bands

What's the big deal with all these over-hyped, average bands at the moment......Franz Ferdinand are being played to death on Virgin radio and MTV2 - and they're nothing special. Hundred Reasons, Von Bondies, Lostprophets.....none of their stuff is ground-breaking or interesting in the slightest. Is there anything new worth listening to at the moment?

Heard the new Vines track on MTV2 earlier, that sounded pretty decent.

Rock on.:smashin:

Yeah, get away from the mainstream a bit and pick up 'The trees are dead and dried out and waiting for something wild' by Sikth.
or Dead Cities, Red seas and Lost Ghosts by M83, or A song to ruin by A Million Dead, Feast of Wire by Calexico, Absolution by Muse, Killing Joke by Killing Joke, thirteenth Step by A perfect Circle. Must be something in there you might like. Oh yes, as a PS You like The Vines, so try Chutes Too Narrow by The Shins.

Have a look at The Rapture, Echoes. I could go on forever, tend to buy mostly none mainstream music, occasionally get caught with c**p like Snow Patrol (Aghhh what made me do it, Ive even got tickets, help me  ).

What about earlier stuff like MBV ? Pavement ? Television?

What's the deal with nme? Are they just a rubbish bunch of reviewers, or do they just totally over-hype bands/artists/albums?

It seems like if something is liked by nme then it's a sin to buy it :lesson:

I saw that they gave Limp Bizkit's latest pile-o-pants 1 out of 10.......

........they must be a bunch of idiots, where did they get the 1 from?? Was the artwork good or something?
