Just came out of the cinema (I’m in Singapore at the mo) and agree with this review wholeheartedly - I’d give it 7.5/10

“Unfortunately this also leads to an utterly ludicrous and stupefyingly politicised moments of all-female team-up which is nothing more than a crass statement, and appears completely out of place in the grand scheme of the epic battle that is going on“ - this part of the film annoyed me greatly. If anything, it felt disrespectful and demeaning to the work that is going on to empower women in Hollywood.

Also thought the plot device that gave Thanos his info was very poor.

However, for concluding some story arcs and setting up threads on where it can go from here, it was very good

I saw the movie yesterday morning and i was thoroughly entertained.
Yes there are some problems with the plot but still a lot of fun moments and even surprising ones.
I cannot completely agree on your review Cas , although i respect your opinion.

I am going with a 9 on this one only because of the minor flaws.

I thought it was excellent. Better then I feared it would be. Some great character work and some amazing performances. I watched it in an Empire magazine sponsored double header with Infinity War at Picturehouse cinemas and the two fit together amazingly well. Yes, I agree it's not perfect and there are some tonal problems in favour of a laugh at times but it was still a fantastic blockbuster and a great send off to a great run of Marvel movies. I"d have given it a solid 9 out of 10.

I wondered how long it would be before I saw posts complaining about that one, three to five second, sequence in the film.

I didn't think it'd be Cas first though. It felt a little hokey, but I think they have earned it and actually it highlighted the fact that the MCU has a good amount of strong heroes of that particular type. I didn't find it political at all.

Anyway, others smarter than me can and will discuss it further I'm sure, for me it didn't detract from the film, which was very good overall. With my still groggy head I'd give that first viewing a solid 8/10.

Off to the pictures in one hour to complete this amazing saga. Will update later once I moved on from the wow factor and calmed down a little ..

Did the double header last night and if you treat the film as is meant to be its fantastic escapism. No one's getting any Oscars and the plots loose in parts and yes the girl power scene is a bit cringy but in whole a decent film.
I watched it at the new Odeon in Leeds in the Dolby Cinema screen. Wow what a set up that is. I normally use the Xplus at Showcase for the Atmos sound but this blew it away. The screen clarity is amazing!

Lucky you, the screen is nice, but the Atmos in the Dolby Cinema in London is not great that's why it was a straight choice for me between the BFI IMAX and Cineworld IMAX. Anyway I "should" be seeing this film this afternoon.

Thought it was terrific. The first hour or so was a little slow for me and the whole film almost feels like it may fall off the edge of indulgence at any given moment but ultimately it’s mainly earned.
      IW is a 10
This is 9.5 on first viewing

Saw it last night in the isense in MK and I was massively impressed by both the picture and the sound in comparison to my normal haunt which is Cineworld Superscreen in Hemel. The Odeon was a MILLION miles ahead in every department and so much so that I'll never be going back there. My only complaint is that it was hot. (I'd also complain about the farting, phone using, talking seat kicking idiots in the row behind me but it's seemingly par for the course these days)

I'd agree with a 8/10 on first viewing. I'm hoping it will be a 9/10 once I get to watch it in the comfort of my own home.

Too true on many occasions unfortunately... But thinking about it, putting aside the sound quality issues, HDR has changed the game. So until HDR becomes widespread in cinemas then you are right.

      Going seeing Endgame this afternoon.

Been looking forward to it for months, especially after watching Infinity Wars multiple time (must be at least a dozen). I was thinking last night as I watched Infinity Wars, "how can Endgame top this?" - Infinity Wars, to me, is a perfect Superhero movie - action, drama, emotion (if you've followed these characters over the past 10 years) and an ending that makes you want more. I gave it a 10/10, so if Endgame is a 9/10 I will be a happy man. Only time will tell I suppose....!

I was surprised that there were no real surprises in this movie. It plays out exactly how you'd expect which is disappointing, having hoped for something a little different from the Russo's. I actually enjoyed the first hour the most; it's standard Marvel fare after that. Lots of nice call backs & great individual moments for all the main cast though. I'm sure most will be very happy.

Also feels like a good time to check out of the MCU. Other than 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3', I see little of interest on the horizon surrounding the characters Marvel now wishes to focus on. Perhaps the introduction of the X-Men franchises will rejuvenate my interest but that seems a number of years away.

"Everyone in this room is about that superhero life." :D:D

The theatre release of Endgame sucks ! But only because I'll have to wait several months to be able to watch the BluRay on my new 65 inch TV :D

For me, it was a 7.5.

The middle section pacing was terrible. It took too long self indulging in the previous films with only a few stand out moments in that section. The last hour was “True” Avengers.

“Bigger” Thor had some of the best moments on screen and for the most part, the comedy felt most natural of all Marvel movies for me.

The “I knew it” scene got a big cheer from my fellow audience but felt a bit tacked on for my liking.

There were some serious balancing issues on a power level for me (compared to IW) but I will discuss that more in a few days as to not ruin it.

I’m not entirely sure how I feel a bit about the overall climax. Did no-one else pick up the similarity to Snape / Dumbledore flashback when discussing Harry’s fate was all a bit too similar to this?

Overall I enjoyed it. I just expected a bit more.

They may well have done but then decided that it was probably best not to mention it on a thread that is supposed to contain no spoilers.

I didn’t feel that was a spoiler. There was no context and I did try and avoid it. If it is deemed a “Spoiler” - mod feel free to remove as that was not the intention.

You could just spoiler that part so that folks have the option to read it or not, like Joe C has above. You've not offended me but there will be people who would rather not know in advance that a part of this film has a striking resemblance to something they may have already seen, especially if it is a pivotal part of the story.
