Unconfirmed rumours say the new Denon AVC-A1SR will come out in May at a price of - fasten your seat belts - €4.699. Doh!

Supposingly it has some add. features over the AVC-A1SE + upgrade:

    - video signal conversion from composite to S-Video

    - 192kHz/24bit AD for 7.1 input (corrected)

    - Burr Brown 1738 chips

May is quite late, I expect it will be July before we see a review.
Reiner, doesn't the upgrade also have these DACs to facilitate 8 channel digital input?

I have seen over on the 5800/A1SE flagship forum people commenting that the upgrade will not have on-screen volume indicator. This is something I can't understand since it was one of the most requested features to the upgrade after DPLII, also it is still on the Hayden website.

I think what you mean are the DACs which will be upgraded, too , but the 7.1 input supposingly becomes a new ADC though I am not 100% sure, it's not clear from the document above and was only mentioned by another user on a German forum.

Thanks to Jim Robson for posting the link before.

DAC (digital to analog converter) yes, ADC (analog to digital converter) maybe. See my correction above.

Sorry for causing some missunderstanding here.

Ah, I see – this has implications for 8 channel input bass/multichannel management!

I put forward a proposal to Denon some months back that bass/multichannel management on the analogue 8 channel input would be desirable, and it seems that this is exactly what they've done, as long as it is defeat-able for pure sound of course!

I'm still of the opinion that the A1SR and upgraded A1SE will be identical except for the Video up conversion. You keep your ears open though Reiner and report anything you find that may prove otherwise!

You were correct Reiner, the AVC-A1SE upgrade will not perform A/D conversion and so there will be no bass management on the 8 channel inputs.

That's according to DenonJeff, but the first line of the upgrade sheet clearly states:
