Maybe thinking of getting a 2nd hand one.
How do you check which options its got ?
I'm told everything, but I've asked them to check.
I've been to IAG web site, but reading on here some options never became available.
    Unit is 3 years old.
WHen did they stop making them ?
ANything to be aware of ?

Need fairly quick answers, so feel free to reply as you think of stuff.

    Thanks

    John

Get the serial number, then ring IAG and they will be able to tell you the spec of that machine  As far as I am aware all options were made available for the AV192 before TMA were taken over :D

    John,

When they say 'everything' do they mean the scaler VSM2048 as well?

If you are not interested in the scaler, then the following may not be relevant... however...

Obviously it depends how much the AV192 is going for, but bear in mind if the scaler is not included there could be a few other options needed to get the best out of the scaler/for it to work. These few other options can add over £1k on top of the scaler cost (just under £5k retail). I believe these options were RGBS/component Switcher, Viedo Power Supply, RGB Progressive/Scaler Interface.

Also, worth checking that software licences are included e.g HDCD, even MPEG2, etc.

Does it have balanced XLR outputs, front flap, RS232/IR TX controller? All quite useful.

    PSM Module, DAB/FM radio?

    Just a few thoughts

    Simon

THey checked with Tag and no scaler.
If it'd had the scaler I was going to buy, so here ends the TAG route.

    THanks for all the info.

It is always worth firing up the Av192 (connected to a TV so you can see the OSD) nad selecting menu followed by AV options + status, you can then see what is installed, what can be installed, what software options are active and which software options are available......
I wouldn't be that concerned if the unit doesn't have the VSM fitted as there are other ways of doing that effectively, if it has all the other options though you might wish to consider it still......

Depending upon price, I certainly wouldn't be put off by the lack of scaler.

When TAG was still going, I looked at a lot of stuff that cost significantly more. If you want great music as well as great home cinema, there probably still isn't anything out there to beat it even now.

    Where is it and howmucha?

    John,

As the others have said don't be put off by a lack of scaler, the AV192 is a great piece of kit in its own right. I was just trying to highlight if it did not have a scaler , and you wanted one, you had to rememeber to check that it had the other necessary bits and bobs - or cost them in.

Would be interested in the answer to Edwards question though.

I may have a scaler that is 4 month old in my av192 that I may not need if you are interested. I can arrange to have it installed for you. Are you on the west coast? PM me

Sorry I see you are in England. Why are you called Oaklandraiders? Isn't that a US football team?

Yep in UK, Raiders are an NFL team, needless to say I'm a big fan !
Av192 is £5000, it had PSM, DAB and the rest was still unclear, I kinda lost interest with no scaler. At that price theres still alot of rivals who are still making kit.
