Hey all, so I need to find a solution that's easy to use and will be as plug and play as possible, ie, requires minimal support.

The current solution is a mess of old and ancient equipment and the controls for it is unintuitive to say the least. Once you have it configured and working, it all goes through an old Projector with a VGA connection.

The budget given to upgrade this system is £7k (the figure I have been given was £14k, but I assume as there are two rooms with identical spec hardware, they are both to be upgraded). Also, the hardware ideally needs to be brand new.

Now my first thought was to go with a HTPC solution that connected into a multi port switch. The switch would allow connections from other devices (laptops, tablets etc), but also an intranet PC (DVI only Graphics card).

Then I tried to figure out an audio solution, and came unstuck lol.

So what are your thoughts on the above? What alternative solution would you go with?

Everything is required apart from the screen and speakers. Thanks in advance.

'What alternative solution would you go with?' - hiring someone who knows what they are doing with Conference/Meeting/Training rooms!

The budget is reasonable though not large and can easily disappear down the black hole which is 'we would like!'.

Step 1 is a discussion around Who uses the room, How they would like to use the room and What hardware/connectivity they require.

PS 'HTPC solution' - the clue is in the title, those are best left at home :)

Thanks Joe, that discussion will be taking place soon. I just wanted to have as much information I can get to go in with as it will be I who has to support it once it's up.

Good point about the H part of HTPC Though. Tripped up at the starting line :/

In terms of hiring, this won't be an option with much appetite unfortunately, so if that's the best option, I need to look at second best I'm afraid.

Once you know what you are required to cater for you can start to design the system.

If the client is unwilling to hire in a system Designer I doubt they would hire a system Programmer.

Folk often place the emphasis on the kit price not the system usage.
