Well guys after much thought and help from forum, decided to buy pw7 from av...hooray.

with side order of quintro, stand,js converter,

Rung sales to order equip only to discover cannot deliver on saturday.

after a couple more phone calls someone said we can deliver saturday but it is expensive.

i did expect to pay extra but never had the return call to say how much.

i was a bit dissapointed after reading some of the feedback abouy av ,and i really did want to order from them.

in the end ive got a pw6 from the enemy RS,Because i collected my self.

have ordered the other bits from av,but am surprised they would lose a £1300+ order for the sake of a saturday delivery.maybe lessons can be learned hey guys.

iam in customer service myself and i would have found a way !!!!!

Sorry AV,did not want to use RS but needs must.http://www.avforums.com/forums/newthread.

I think you'll find very few retailers as good as AV-Sales.

I've dealt with them and they have been very helpful - even allowing me to return a PWD7 I was not happy with.

They will be my first choice if I decide to purchase in the future.

Sure, they can get busy at times !

BUT to try and score points off them in comparison with RS - that's a bit much.

Maybe you have a reasonably good mob at your branch - but the Reading branch are staffed by bunch of cretins who wouldn't know how to spell PLASMA.

Gussie :)

Gussie, the last thing i want to do is score points.the point i was making, surely in this day and age you should not have a problem getting a saturday delivery.

And i will still recommend av to anyone after a plasma.

Regards Garry.

Couldnt you of got the screen delivered on Friday or Monday. Im sure they would of done there best to make the delivery as easy as possible for you.

Been in touch with AV-Sales loads the past week and so far i cant fault them. Im currently waiting to find out if they can squeeze my PW7 order in on Friday for delivery.

I think your the first person i have read on this board that hasent had a everything delivered on the day that you wanted it.

Speaking in defense of retailers, delivery on a saturday is, and always has
been an absolute nightmare...

If they, like most, use the likes of UPS, TNF, CityLink, Amtrak, etc, etc then
they'll find the additional charge is more than three times the standard
weekday rate, and not only that, its never guaranteed and is a hit and miss
affair. You pay your dosh and you -might- get the delivery...

Do be fair, both retail companies I have worked for wont do Saturday
drops any more, and quite a few distributors we deal with wont do it either.

Que sera sera...

Delivery for a Plasma is approx £60, alot of retails contribute to wards this cost to keep the price down to the customer, DHL wanted to charge me just short of £200 to collect a friends screen on the Friday and deliver it to Peterborough from Norwich on the Saturday.

Yes, maybe they should have called you back, it can be a little frustrating when waiting for a call, but you have your screen now.

Have mixed views... Had a great demo but have had no reply to subsequent email...

Sorry, we're all busy, but you've just got to return people's calls and emails. I'd be sacked if I didn't. :thumbsdow

Well, I dealt directly with avsales at thier shop in kent. Booked a demo and then bought and paid for the plasma there and then. Had good comunication from them via email before , and had good comunication afterwards with regards to trying to correct the overscan problem the plasma had. I also got help putting it in the car and a good deal with regards to the table top stand and warranty.
I do not think it is possible for any retailer to have 100% postive feed back from every customer. Every one is diffrent and each customer has various issues that may or may not be able to be sorted out. Also there are members of the generall public that, no matter how hard you try to please them , you just cant win. I worked in retail for 5 years as a sales assistant and for year and half in my own shop . some people are never satisfied and as an assiatnt you can not be 100% happy and polite and helpfull all day every day. Various things will happen to people in retail that will upset them, either on the way to work or, from an abusive customer, before they have spoken to you. It is human nature I am affaid.
Also a place like av sales is extremly busy, I am sure that they do thier best but like a lot of things in life ,nothing is garantied.
I would definatly use av sales again from my own experince with them. The problem is , is that if someone does have one bad experince it puts them of in the future and that is a shame.

On reading my previous mail back I feel I have to address the balance as to the vague wording I used there was out of context to a certain extent.
There WAS a problem with a stand which dragged on and on (but WAS eventually resolved).
The tone of the reply to one of the last mails I received MAY have come across wrong as the sales member concerned probably felt that a more light hearted reply was acceptable after the number of mails we had exchanged.
Not being aware of the problems he may have been having at his end, I will say that I got a good discount and will continue to use them whenever possible.

Wow, just checked AV-Sales web site and am stunned to see them selling my target-plasma for £2782 - most of the other on-line retailers sell this for under £2k. In fact this may be even more expensive than Currys :)

Am I missing something or are they just not competitive on price?

You will see that the screens that sell really well are the ones that they buy big and discount big.
They have that screen advertised but I bet they do not have it in stock.
They will always have a crack at beating prices though.

 Another big two thumbs up for AV Sales

Prompt and courteous service and response to e mails everytime.

Danluton, some of the sites sell the screen without the stand and speakers etc, so that adds to the price in the end. Maybe thats the case here??

"They will always have a crack at beating prices though."

Perhaps, but discounting £800 just to match other retailer prices seems a little off the mark.

I'm just pretty surprised that an on-line retailer is so far out in comparison.

Maybe they are trying to put people off that screen, ever thought about that?

Hitachi have ****d retailers to the point where you have to stand there screaming at the rep for support!

In defence of the Saturday thing City Link will charge areoound £30 extra, and with wafer thin margins (in not negative on panny stuff!) that is just not possible, plus the fact it is 50/50 whether the thing actually gets there!

I don't think any responsible dealer would have done any different.

well as far as i know AV-sales only ship plasma woth Kay O neil a specialist Carrier not a Courier (Kay O'Neil do all pannys plasma distribution) and are a business hours operation and i would guese that they charge a bit more than City link for a saturday delivery as it would be a one off drop (dedicated driver and vehicle) while they are very very cheap on panny onn others they are no quite so competitive perhaps the Hitachi price is a tad outdated like this one http://www.av-sales.com/plasma/html/philips_42pf9965_plasma.html

My experience with AV sales has been 100%. I would recommend them to anyone. My PW7 broke down after 72 hours  with a flashing red light  . I called AV sales at 20:00 (yes 8 in the evening) and there was a reply within 3 rings. An RMA was email within 3 mins and despite me being uncontactable on the next day (Friday) the replacement screen was booked in for Monday. The service from the delivery driver was excellent.

I too worked in After Sales for 5 years. The Tiny saga shows how a company can get things do wrong. AV-Sales show they can really deliver when its needed.

Many thanks to Ben for perfect Service that absolutely exceeded my Expectations.
