I'm considering buying an AV receiver from Richer sounds...but wanted to check out a few things...
My current amp for my hi fi is knackered so wanted to check if i buy an AV receiver can i use it for my cd player and turntable?
Also, i have a vhs recorder and x box...will it be able to take those too?
Finally,do i need to buy new speakers too?
At moment i have a pair of missions fo my hi fi..can i use them till i get proper "home cinema" speakers?
Hope someone can help me out there!
Also, any recommendations for a good machine that will do all the above?
    Cheers!!!

    snapyou,

Did you want to use the amp as video central or just sound central?

You'll be able to use your existing speaker if you wish and just buy some more to get 5.1. You'll be able to connect all your gear to an av amp one way or the other. Musically speaking you have to spend a few quid to get quality stereo sound but you can also add an integrated amp later for better hifi sound.
We need a Budget to give you some pointers though:)

Look for an amp with a phono stage at least one optical input an a few more digital and analogue ins and outs, If you want it to control Video as welll as audio pioneer 301 and 501 are very good as they scart connections, However its best to shop around (not only on price) and decide what you need, also consider other retailers like www.petertyson.co.uk www.hifibitz.co.uk www.superfi.co.uk www.avland.co.uk and many others

definately consider other retailers, some retailers have comparable prices and a good range chosen on performance not price compared to retail.
