Can you tell me the implications of having long cables either PHONO or SCART.

    Problem.

If I site the DVD player near the TV (so as to have short SCART lead) then have to bend down to load disks.

IF I site the DVD player away from TV next to AV Reciever then have to have long SCART lead and understand the longer the lead the worse the picture (say 2 mtrs).

What do most people do. All the expensive SCART leads I've seen are short.

Or is there better method of connecting using digital connections which I don't quite understand.

Hardware - Arcam AV300, Denon DVD player and Plasma screen as example.

Have you got component inputs/outputs on the plasma and dvd player as you could have a long ish set of those without too much problem, and I think the picture quality would improve aswell if you have and can afford it see the selling forums and get a mark grant component video cable and you won't be disappointed and he does them by the half metre.

So with component leads doesn't matter how long they are (say up to 3 metres worse case)?

I have a 5m Ixos scart from TV Cables and its fine. Not picture loss that I can see. Its a thick SOAB as well so hiding the run is tricky.

Should do you fine and it was only £20 on special offer.

All depends on the quality really. The IXOs SCART is quite a good one if you want a SCART connection.

I know people that have got 5m plus both SCART and component leads and as long as they're good quality there should be much of a problem.

If your DVD player and plasma also output/input progressive scan then the component option could utilise this for an even better picture.

As with the Scart mentioned the mark grant component cables are quite fat too and are a little bit more expensive 70 quid for 3 metres but it will be the best you'll get

Thanks. Was just asking because most shops only stock short ones.
