    Hi

I presume the best way to set-up a processor is with an SPL meter, any recommendations?

Are the internal tone generators good enough or do you need some sort of calibration disk?

    Cheers

Ideally a setup disc such as AVIA or Digital Video Essentials will give you the most accurate calibration as they bring the dvd player into the playback chain. Internal test tones can be wrong unless it's a THX certified processor/amp which "should" be spot on. :)

    Thanks for the advice.

I have just bought a second hand lexicon MC-1 and I am waiting for it to arrive.

So I assume the test tones from this should be adequate.

    Cheers

The test tones are just help to start, in the end I adjusted the center speaker a bit down and the surrounds a bit up, the SQL meter is useless for bass, either use ETF, or do it by ear...

Actually thats a good point as when I swapped my Pioneer 717 player for a 565 sound levels did drop sightly.
