Appreciate the offer. I had priced all of the units at very reasonable prices so as to avoid negotiations.

So just for the sake of a tenner though I'm not going to argue. I'll accept the offer.

Can you give me a day or two to get everything together, packed and booked.

Let's move to PM.
Will do cheers.

@chordguy

Just to confirm you are happy to purchase the Lyngdorf at asking price?

Hi ....... I got caught up in the excitement of seeing a high end processor for a reasonable price yesterday, but have had the evening to think about it.

Here's my thoughts.
1. Age of Lyngdorf, manufactured in 2017 so it's already 5 years old.
2. My Arcam AV40, one year old, with 4 years warranty remaining.
It's a pretty good machine and I'm happy with it, solid performer now that all the software issues have been resolved.
3. Funds - I don't quite have all the funds available for your asking price.

Summation. Although your asking price seems fair, for a 5 year old unit, it's too much for me to forego the peace of mind I have with my Arcam.

I would offer £4,500 due to the age of your unit, which I can manage the funds.
(I note the unit has been advertised for just over a month now.)

If not acceptable, I wish you every success with the sale of the Lyngdorf.

In regards to your queries:

1. Age is not really a great indicator of usage. These are high end specialist units that are used in mainly professional setups. Which means within Home Theatres, you may watch a movie once or twice a week. Not like switching your TV on and using it everyday for 7hrs a day. Also with the top build and components, these can go on for decades. I can atest to this as my Anthem D2V is still running after 20 years.

2. Arcam are good, but they are very buggy. The Lyngdorf is on a whole different planet. Plus the control it gives you. The Room Perfect system is in a class of its' own, even amongst the top tier systems like Storm Audio or Trinnov. Basically if you can stretch the budget, you will go straight to the top of the AV Processor pile. You can't go any higher, unless you go hollywood level. Therefore you won't need to spend or change your processor for decades. Thus saving you money from upgraditus in the long run.

3. In regards to funds, TBH this is the cheapest MP50 that has been up for sale on AV Forums. They are very hard to get hold of and come up randomly for sale. What I can assure you is, with the lack of chip availability on new ones, and the prices I've seen previously, the next time one comes up for sale, when you DO have the funds, will be significantly more expensive than this one. Also, because they are highly regarded units, you will be making a great investment. I have experienced myself, highly regarded audiophile items keep their value and in some cases go up in price. So again, I reckon you can get your money back even if you sell it in a few years time.

In regards to the offer of £4500, I'm afraid I will have to decline this offer. Even though this has been on sale for a month, high value items like this also have a small sale target audience. But the people that know, know. They will purchase it at this great price. So it's just a matter of waiting for when someone is ready to buy one. The price is a steal.

Alternatively, you should really consider the Acurus ACT4 I have for sale. It's firmly within your budget. Sounds as good, but you can save £1000 over the MP50. It's an amazing processor. I would be happy to be left with either. Check out it's reviews which I have linked in the thread as well as online.

Enquiring about the Lyngdorf, I'll send you a PM.
A reminder - keep all negotiation on the thread. You may only go to PM once a deal is agreed. This is for the purposes of transparency.

Thanks

Hi, last I spoke to someone from Apex-Tech up in Glasgow about 6 months ago. They were formerly known as Genesis Technologies. They have been the UK Acurus dealer for some time. I mentioned they were up in Glasgow and me in the South, they told me they had an engineer in the London area to cover the region. You can find further details here:

Then there is Habitech in Basingstoke who also use, install and upgrade Acurus equipment. But they are more trade to trade and custom installation.

Then finally you have Rick Santiago himself, the Co-Founder & CEO of Acurus. I've communicated with him in the past directly and he has been very helpful. Even sent me the latest firmware update file. I can give you his email address if you are interested in the Acurus.

He mentioned, if the Acurus is upgraded to the 20 channels, then a new 5 year warranty will be applied to the unit.

Saying that, the unit itself is very high quality and solidly built and will last years.

Are you interested in the Acurus? I can post some more pics if you like of the original box and remote etc.

The Anthem D2V is a very nice bit of kit and I am amazed it hasn't sold yet. Purely as a two channel analogue pre-amp, it is worth that price.

I totally agree. If it weren't for the new codecs and atmos, I would have continued with the Anthem D2V.

I've read reviews where they couldn't find a difference in sound quality between the D2V and the new AVM60 when it was released.

For someone still running a 7.2 max system, this is a bargain.
