Creating this new thread as all being well apropos the pandemic, the new Premier League season will soon be upon us.

Kicks off on Saturday 12th September and the new fixture list is planned for 21st August and will include six midweek rounds.

I don't know if I will be running this again as I would like to confer with @Woodywizz first but we would hope to get a solid twenty members playing again at the £10 entry fee.

If I do chair again I plan to donate £50 to the kitty to get the prize money up so, guys, I hope you will return and I'll update this thread with the starting prices of key players especially the new ones, like Timo Werner has been announced as a 9.5m buy which some might think a bit of a steal.

Still on Chelsea, the 8m tag for midfielder Christian Pulisic has been changed now to 8.5m.

A more competitive price but there will be a huge dilemma in picking the engine room of your squad as Arsenal have landed Willian on a free and are hoping to have Phillipe Coutinho on a loan deal.

Expect Bruno Fernandes and Kevin de Bruyne's prices to increase by at least 0.5m too.

Add Mane, Salah and Sterling then you can see its a struggle to fit three marquee midfielders in unless you're having a budget forward line.

Is this open to pick teams again already? I'll be in again this year as well, whoever runs it

I haven't checked the FPL website, let's look...

you can update your profile that's all, I Don't think squads can be built until two weeks prior to the start.

I think I will be avoiding de Bruyne this term. I'll employ Pope again though despite the slight increase.

Kevin De Bruyne (MCI) £11.5m

The Manchester City playmaker has earned a significant price rise after finishing as the top-scoring player in FPL last season.

De Bruyne was available for £9.5m at the beginning of 2019/20 and went on to produce 251 points.

The Belgian supplied 23 assists, more than any other player, and also scored 13 goals.

Having taken over penalty duties for Pep Guardiola’s side, De Bruyne may well surpass his FPL points total from last season in 2020/21

Bruno Fernandes (MUN) £10.5m
The Manchester United midfielder has risen £2.5m thanks to his impact during the second half of last season.

The Portuguese will now cost managers £10.5m after averaging 8.4 points per match, more than any other player in 2019/20.

Similar to De Bruyne, though, his dominance of set-pieces, along with his role as his team's first-choice penalty-taker, means Fernandes can be worth the extra outlay.

Mohamed Salah (LIV) £12.0m
Salah has had a price drop for the new season.

The Liverpool winger, who remains a midfielder in FPL, has dipped from his opening value of £12.5m in the previous campaign.

Salah finished as the second-highest scoring player in 2019/20 FPL, tallying 233 points.

And the underlying numbers suggest the Egyptian will be a big captaincy favourite for many managers again.

Salah's 132 shots and 110 shots in the penalty area were both league-leading totals in 2019/20.

Nick Pope (BUR) £5.5m
Last season's top player for points-per-million value has earned a price hike.

Starting 2019/20 at just £4.5m, the Burnley No 1 ended as the top-scoring goalkeeper with 170 points.

Despite his move out of the budget bracket to £5.5m, Pope may tempt managers to invest again.

Only three defenders surpassed his points haul in 2019/20 FPL.

So, let's see what the fixtures bring.

Happy with the squad that includes the new boy striker, the three must have midfielders and the must have defender.

Two decent keepers and potentially, two useful back up forwards and a midfielder I expect to continue doing good things for his London club.

Cannot afford Pulisic and the Willian deal is not yet done though his price would be 7.5m or thereabouts. And Coutinho? That really would set the cat among the pigeons.

Decisions, decisions.

Rashford/Greenwood/Salah/Mane are midfielders too.

I don't understand why they are all midfielders. None of them play midfield. Will make picking strikers even more pointless

As Lacazette is seemingly on his way, the Aubameyang one is particularly odd.

As is Mason Greenwood.

Mane and Salah have always been midfielders.

The only advantage is that it's 5pts for a midfield goal compared to 4pts for a forward so from our perspective, if Aubameyang remained upfront, it could be worth a punt.

My annual gripe remains on that prices are hiked yet the money we have never increases. On the other hand, it is a real challenge and of course the same challenge for all of us.

Hi mate, you did a great job running it last season so you are more than welcome to do so again.

Id PM the league code to new members as otherwise you’ll just get loads joining who don’t pay. Then give them till gw1 to pay then boot out if they haven’t paid.

@dowzer @benoj2005 @SHATNERSTACTIC @millerlfc @istanbul05 @TayWax @Synchro @Andy @rustybin @nabby @ledgey7 @John @TwoJs @davidegee

LEAGUE IS NOW OPEN TO EXISTING AND NEW MANAGERS
  • Entry fee is £10. This is paid to a nominated account for the Fantasy Football and is held until the end of the season when the prizes are paid.
  • If this fee is not received by the end of Gameweek 3 then that team will be excluded from the league.
  • Prize fund split will be decided once we know final numbers. Generally we have prizes for the top 3 and also for the most points in a gameweek.
  • All teams must be entered prior to the start of Gameweek 1. No late entrants are allowed and no teams are permitted to join once the season has started.
  • Please post in here your AVF username and Fantasy Footie team name as soon as you join the league.

Good plan, I'll do just that.

The account at PayPal is open so on Monday as promised I'll add £50 plus my entry fee to get the ball rolling and if we can in the next four weeks get 20 or more players the prize money will be more attractive.

I will also publish the league standings weekly in the thread and keep a running total on the highest gameweek score.

I've renewed our league which means that the following managers have been automatically added.

Rapid ViagraOliver Shergold
Haven't got a Kalou
Oles at the wheel
The Untouchables
Stonemere Athletic
TACTICSTRUCK
ForFarkeSake

If any of those do not rejoin it's a simple matter of deletion via admin.

All that's left to do now is find that league entry code (might well be the same as last season).

Nice one WIR. I’ll join again, see if I can improve on last season. (TACTICSTRUCK)

I'd like to join this season, see how crap I can do, what's the code? Cheers

The Scout assesses the prospects of the players who have had their positions reclassified for 2020/21 Fantasy Premier League.

All change at Man Utd

Anthony Martial (£9.0m) and Marcus Rashford (£9.5m) have swapped positions due to their roles for Manchester United last season.

Martial played up front for the Red Devils, scoring 17 goals and supplying nine assists in FPL.

He is now listed as a forward, changing from his former role as a midfielder.

And Rashford has gone the other way, switching from a forward to a midfielder.

He was used on the left flank by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and, like Martial, had his best-ever FPL campaign.

The 22-year-old produced 17 goals and eight assists over his 31 Gameweek appearances.

All joined, username is ilovemarmite.

What may cause a bit of issue is the fact teams in latter stage of Euro comp are starting later, aren't they?

They are though it's no longer Wolves and should not affect the league too much.

I'm also noticing that with the chips, same as last year when I fell for it, you won't see the FREE HIT until after the first gameweek which makes sense if you think about it.

i will play again, kahlua dynamo kabab.

Ten entries showing, nine unconfirmed of course but a promising start.

This game as we know can be a weekly frustration but overall is a cheap time waster and can be a lot of fun too.

Every season I pick my squad and think, yeah, this is an awesome team, I've done brilliantly.

Doesn't take long for me to realise that actually, it is far from awesome.
