Have you seen the ORemote app for your Onkyo

NO ill have a look at it. what's the deal is it any better??:smashin: This all runs over and fast network as that's my profession and runs faultlessly, however automation is a love and hobby of mine and I'm now thinking of going into business automating homes being recession killed it happening a couple of years ago.

It's a fantastic app a lot better than the Onkyo app for about £2.50 :smashin:

Hi xxpaul, Loving your build :smashin:

In the once picture I seem you have a prism data cabinet. I have three quick questions! Is that a full depth or half cabinet, I assume its hidden in a false wall?? Also if you have any networking gear in here can you hear it and is it fair cool?

Thanks in advance!

Yes is a 600mm deep cabinet and yes fitted very nicely into my wall and remains quite and cool. My set-up has been over a mater of years so the brain/switching/control e.g the cabinet should be the central point to hold all your av/server/cables equipment and all the set-ups should just be a simple lcd on the wall and speakers fitted in celling or a sound bar like the other two. I'm patching the equipment in and out of that cabinet more times than need be, because that's just how it has to be in this house. But the best thing would be a dedicated space/room for the cabinet and of course it would be bigger also to home your very much valued equipment and also HDD camera recording too. (unless you ftp them of to some place via the web) On the whole the cabinet runs very very quietly indeed the server automating and managing your home is something like an 17dB noise level.

Hi xppaul,

Thanks for the info, its exactly what I am aiming for is to have a central cabinet/room where I can have all my kit. Have a look at my post and you will see what I am trying to do. Ideally I want the best quality in every room but also the ensure all the rooms are future proof and I can upgrade things easily.

I'd love to pick your brain on what you have done here - Im trying to do something like this, thing is I need to start with my internet connection and put it either in the loft space or under the stairs then run cables. However only stumbling point Is I don't know where to start with getting the feed for the internet in there! I don't want to run externally as I hate wires as it is.

But the hallway is concrete and only option is to go above in the ceiling through the beams/joists or straight up the walls into the loft and terminate there with a server rack.

Wish I could make a decision as i'd like to get started installing wall plates for cat5

But nice install I like the cctv part as I plan on doing the same once im up and running

That's why our (avicci) profession is key here! Networking

Ok that video shows nothing. Anyway I value your advice if you happen to offer any here.

thanks

That video shows a light turning on and off, via a simple swipe of an nfc tag with the back of your mobile phone. The possibilities or endless. e.g music turning on when you have just got home, getting a text when your kids get home from school putting your house into sleep mode (all off) when leaving could even set your house alarm.

I will offer you advice but by the sounds of it stated in your post you know what you need to do. However it would be impossible to tell you exactly what too do without visiting site because of the mass cabling infrastructure and routes needed.

I hope you understand now.
