AV Amp for £350/£400

    i currenty have a Sony STR-DB930 Av Amp.

    I am going to sell this and I will have around £400 to spend on a new amp.

    Which amp would you guys/gals recommend?

    Sony 1080, Marantz, Denon??

    I want a amp with 6.1.

    Please help me decide

    We are in a similar situation. I will buy a 6.1 receiver in the January and after months I decided for the Marantz 5300. I will use it 50% for music, 50% for DVD/home cinema.

    Nothing wrong with the other amps (they are all very good actually) but personally I considered the following:

    - I excluded the Yamaha 630 because it has limited management of the delays/distances of the speakers.

    - Denon 1803 does not seam to be that good with music.

    - Marantz 4300/5300 (apparently) are pretty good with music.

    - Marantz 5300 is slightly more powerful, it has on-screen display and more in/outs.

    - Marantz 5300 is quite popular @ avforums

    If I had the money I would probably buy the new Denon AVR-3803 but £900 is definitely too much for by budget.
