I'm a tad puzzled by this one, my auto -sign in more often than not will sign in my profile but not connect me to LIVE.

8 times out of 10 I have to test connection which always works fine - NAT open etc and then everything is OK.

But like I say I shouldn't have to go through the test connection procedure all the time should I, any ideas?

I used to have the same problem. But I've since switched from BT Broadband to Bulldog & it seems to connect fine now. Not sure why though. It might be nothing to do with it… but its only thing that I can think of that’s changed.

I was getting this problem quite frequently up until recently, but the last week or so it's been fine. Very strange.

that's interesting to see others with the same glitch if you like. I'm with BT.

Like I say once I've tested the connection I have no problems at all, changing games etc, no connection interruptions, it's perfect.

It's just the initial switch on and sign in to LIVE bit

I have to 'Test Connection' everytime I want to sign in to Live as well. On Pipex. Not right bothered about it, but it is slightly annoying as you have to exit any game you're in to run through the test.

When it asks you to sign out active profiles I can choose 'no', not run the test, go back in game and then I'll be on live! So at least I can avoid the tests.

If you use "Dial on Demand" on your router, your connection will drop, and when you boot up your 360 may fail the sign in before you have a chance to reconnect. That would explain why you only get the problem when you first turn on your 360 and you have to run the test settings.

Make sure you uncheck Dial on Demand and set your timeout to zero. (wording may be different depending on brand of router)
