Auto padding still screwed

Having had numerous failed recordings in the past with various issues I have had auto padding turned off the last few years which resolved many issues. I turned it on a few days ago to see if Sky finally had their sh*t together and sadly the answer is no they haven't.

It took all of 4 days before the box screwed up a recording - turned my TV on today to find the Sky box thinking it was still recording the NFL from last night, was completely locked up and had to turn the box off/on. Which fails the recording of course.

Sky you really are a useless bunch of ******s for not sorting this crap out after all these years. Back to no auto padding and missing the end of programs again for me...

Funny! I don't think auto-padding has ever failed for me in well over two years!

You are a lucky man then, perhaps some of us are just cursed with crap boxes. You can find plenty of threads I have participated in previously and with many others had the same problems of failed recordings, frozen recordings, locked up boxes etc. I have not had a single frozen recording since I turned auto padding off years ago - then bingo it happens within four days of turning it back on. The box has got more and more sluggish to respond ever since they put the new EPG on as well, maybe it is just dying a slow and painful death...

It's in Sky+ setup (from memory) and is how many minutes to add at the start and end of a recording. Using "Auto" here means that it will wait for the "Now and Next" flipover in the EPG - in addition to adding the number of minutes.
