I saw it for £7.99 once, that's the cheapest I've ever seen it. I'd say you have a long wait, unless you pick it up in a trade.

If you don't mind me saying so G, you're being an utter skinflint, miser and scrooge! If you like the movie, what does it matter what you pay for it? BUY IT *** :rotfl:

Having said that, I bought the Reg 4 from EzyDVD when it was £9.50 delivered :D

The rights to the second 2 films are owned by EIV who as a distributor are far more likely to do a promotion on them than 20th century fox, who will only run industry wide promomotions, Ie the whole of the DVD companies take it or no-one does. So the second will be on promo more often as 20th CFX only run about 4 promotions a year, and EIV will give promotions to different distributors to run when and if they like.

£9.99 isn't top whack is it? I guess you don't want to use Splash though :D

Try some of the Reg 4 suppliers, some of them have it for about a tenner as well.

Didn't like the first one much, thought the 2nd was a little better, liked the 3rd.

Looks like the R4 version is cropped more than the R1 version:

    http://www.dvd.net.au/goto.cgi?http://www.dvd.net.au/review.cgi?review_id=9

I have the R1 version, and I never paticularly noticed the cropping. Also the R1 disc has the deleted scenes as extras.

I think the film works better without these scenes, but it's good to have them as extras - in fact I think some of the scenes on the R1 disc as extras aren't in the R2 movie at all (e.g the 'we're called flight attendants' scene).

Your link doesn't work but I did a search and found the review here:

    http://www.dvd.net.au/review.cgi?review_id=9

Basically that review is grossly inaccurate. That review is talking about the original R4 release (1.78:1, no commentary) but they have labelled it as a review of the SE and put up a picture of the SE as well! Utter incompetence!

    See here for the truth:

    http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film_results_page.php?fid=76

(and I confirm the specs given for the R4 SE as I own it)

Some of the deleted scenes on the R1 disk have not been edited back into the movie in the R2/R4 version, as you say. However, these were never in the movie anyway. They are still included as deleted scenes on the R2/R4 disk - same as the R1. AFAIK, the extra scenes that the R1 doesn't have were taken out because apparently the jokes didn't work with N American audiences.

Note the difference between R1 US (New Line) and R1 Canada (Warner Bros) too. The R1 disk I used to own was the US one.

So who can remember what they saw at the cinema?

From what I remember, the 2 'what about the henchmen's families' scenes had flowery title cards before them. These are on the US deleted scenes but not the UK dvd. I don't remember the Christian Slater scenes at the cinema though.

Squirrel God - thanks for the link.

I first saw the movie on a plane - a BA flight to Bermuda I think - and that was probably the UK theatrical version. I remember the R1 deleted scenes 'Henchman's Wife' and 'Batchelor Party' being in the film, but not the other ones.

I've also got the NTSC DTS laserdisc. The Ming Tea video on that sounds terrible for some reason - how does it sound on the DVD?
