    Guys,

I know a lot of folks take their bass very seriously and on a recent hunt I read a lot of good things about Auralex Subdude (and Subdude HD for the style concious) i've recently discovered that through work we actually know and deal with the UK importers, as such i've though about making contact with regard to a bulk buy.

Would anybody be interested before i start on this, initial suggestions are the standard 'Subdude' would be around £30 (not clarified if this includes delivery or not) however prices may vary a little as they're US sourced... i will obviously clarify this lot if and when it's deemed a good idea - and the mods approve it of course...

I'd certainly be interested. ~£30 is a great price.

I think more people would take up these platforms if they were more instantly accessible. Also, some links to their benefits would help.

Forgive me if I'm being dumb, but how much will this help say compared to a DF sub spiked through carpet into a concrete floor ?

...And would it work with a downward firing sub?

I don't think that it's necessary for any sub on a concrete floor although there may be some improvement when used to decouple a sub from a wooden floor.

Definitely. Just a quick test with the foam that shipped with my PC-Ultra showed it cut out quite a bit of the excessive floor shaking that made my eyes unable to focus!

This is certainly my understanding... it is best for laminate/wooden floorings.

IMO isolation is a good thing but i doubt you'd see as much benefit on carpet/concrete flooring.

The distributor is trying to increase availability but as they're also a retailer you can understand how many other retailers aren't so happy as they're easily undercut!

I use an Auralex Gramma underneath my PCU13 and it certainly stops the suspended floor from being quiet so lively and appears to tighten things up a little :smashin:

That's a great price BTW and i would jump at the chance if i didn't already own something similar.

I have had the foam under mine for quite a while now, a brilliant free upgrade :smashin:

Although, I would probably consider something more permanent :smashin:

What size is your Gramma mate ? these subdude ones are 15" x 15" and wondering if that's a bit too small for the PCU ? :)

Initially i'd like to keep it at just the SubDude, but i'm sure if we had enough interested we could expand the range to suit other products, such as the Gramma.

There is nothing wrong with a few of the lads clubbing together to make a group purchase as long as everyone realises that the "buy" is not endorsed by AV Forums but I think we may start to draw the line if it looks like it might start to become a commercial undertaking.

If Dolphin Music wish to organize an official Powerbuy here they need to contact Stuart Wright first who I'm sure would be happy to accomodate them

Yeh the PCU is 17" diameter, so I think it may be too big for the subdude :(

Someone has been doing their homework

That is why I am gauging interest... if it starts to get a bit daft then i would pass it over to the guys themselves, but if we're only talking a few (as we seem to be) it might be as good if we club together... i'll leave the thread running for a few days and go from there, but will certainly suggest the idea to the guys at Dophin to see if they would prefer that anyway!

Are you not concerned that your PCU is going to overhang by about an inch all round ?

Would a overhanging cylinder be bad? It'll probably be stable.

It may well be stable enough, I will just have to try one and see :D if it's no good I can always sell it :)

Does anyone know the price difference between the subdude and the subdudeHD ? as I think I would prefer the latter as well ;)

    Guys,

Looking at the numbers involved here it doesn't look like there is much grounds for a powerbuy of sorts... i can enquire as to the costs of buying a few of them for folks interested and sort out the payment one way or the other, but unless there is a sudden huge interest increase i don't think it is worth the effort of organising a powerbuy.

What i will do is get in touch with Dolphin, point them at this thread and if they want to organise something they can direct with AVF.
