Proxy vote from Bill (Biscuit761) who is away at the moment and who asked me to vote for Tobers on his behalf - total increased by 1 :)

Good work as always Zone

Tough month as always with zoting, no top 3 this month, but a top 4 from me :D

Mackers early entry I thought was really well thought out and executed.

Vulkan's great processing really shines with the glass like water and great composition.

Tobers great idea, and genius use of an arrow nearly had me pressing the vote button.

But this month my vote goes to Gordon, yes I may of prefered a slightly different crop, but the whole feel of the shot, the conversion and the way some detail has been retained in the shoes has edged it for me. great find and shot :smashin:

Tough choice between Tobers and C4pre.
Both great entries.
Bang on theme and beautifully executed.

Still think Tobers should have paid his daughter more than £5 :rotfl:

My vote this month is going to C4PRE. Well done m8.

Another month of top pics, including some very amusing ones.

Markbingo for me this time. Good creativity and execution, plus I've no doubt you enjoyed making the shot too, though I'm not sure the cheese would have been too tasty afterwards.

Now if only you could have got some wine in the glasses! That would have been very impressive.

A lot of very good entries and I was torn between C4PRE's entry and kraiklyn's. But for me kraiklyn's photograph was 'in your face' with it's bizarreness and out of placeness (is that even a word?!) :D

I thought this month's theme was a tough one (excuse for no entry from yours truely). However, as usual there were cracking entries.

I was torn between Kraiklyn's underwater horse (which when I first saw thought that it would be hands down winner) and Tober's carpark ironing.

Everything about Tober's entry screams quality. The composition, the lighting, the arrow, the shear absurdness of the idea.

Tobers gets my vote. :smashin: (sorry Kraiklyn )

Very tough this month.

Lots of interesting, and carefully thought out entries. However, I don't feel I can vote for a contrived entry. It's just too easy to set something up that is random and bizzare and then photograph it, much more difficult to find something that is truly 'out of place' by chance alone. That's not to say that these entries haven't been excellent - I just don't feel they're in the spirit of this months comp.

So my vote goes to Gordon - a nice find, and a well thought out exposure to give maximum impact.

However, if I find Gordon is a pair of shoes down - they'll be big trouble :D

I agree with Liquid - a contrived entry for topic as hard as this doesn't do it for me, especially with some of the great entries in this month.

I liked Pinocchio61's effort - odd little box that is very random, Catwoman glass purely because that photo brings a smile to my face and also Rich1's capture.

Tobers is the best photo, but I just can't vote for it for the reason above... so I'm going to go for Rich1 as I like the composition, the vivid colours and also think it fits the topic perfectly.

Well this was tricky...

3 for me

Tobers
Kraiklyn
c4pre

I really wanted to vote Tobers.great technical standard, clever and absurd.

kraiklyn for the most weird thing ive seen in ages and the difficulty in must have been shooting underwater.

But in the end it was C4pre for me, so clever from idea to execution and still find myself looking at it..I dont really mind how people arrive at the end result, and the end result in this case was "out of place" and This shot said it loudly.

well done one and all:smashin:

Same 3 for me
Tobers
Kraiklyn
c4pre

I went for C4PRE. Just love the idea. Normally not a fan of PS'd efforts. Maybe I might get my first vote this month...ah who am I kidding. Maybe next month :rotfl:

Hi everyone and well done...some fantastic entries this month!

I, like some people above, do not like the contrived entries although Tobers and C4pre have submitted great pictures.

So my top three are...

3. Zargone - the poppies are beautiful and look out of place even though you do see them in fields!
2. [email protected] - love this, the composition is spot on!
1. Kraiklyn.

Kraiklyn got my vote for an uncontrived and truly out of place shot!

Cheers and Good luck all!

Tobers for me - a terrific shot. I personally have no problem with the contrived shots, as long as they take full advantage of the control afforded. Tober's shot does exactly that.

I liked a few others too...
Chrisw's motorway shot looked newspaper-worthy, and I thought the absurdity came through.
Kraiklyn's shot wasn't just a good find, I also really liked the composition/angle.
Gordon's shot is fantastic too - I found the not-quite-square crop slightly awkward, but loved the subject and treatment.

I didn't manage to get an entry in, so I'll try doubly hard in September!

Certainly an interesting topic this month. Glad I managed to get something in.
I also don't have too much of a problem with contrived shots. For me there are two facets to each image. First is whether I feel it is on topic and second is whether it's actually a good image. One without the other is not going to get my vote and very month there are great ideas spoilt by poor execution (I hold my own hand up to that) and the opposite with great images that have been shoe horned in to the topic.

Some great ones to choose from this month though but I got to go out do some work so can't vote until later on.

Some very good entries in what I thought was a difficult theme this month...and my Top 3 was:

3. Crustyloafer, nice simple idea, well executed, especially as it was taken with a new toy.

2. Kraiklyn, great find, and again, very well executed, and was a very close runner up to....

1. Tobers, was blown away when I first saw this picture, and it immediately jumped to the top of the pile....love the large arrow, the small arrow is also very good (lucky?), composition is spot on, PP treatment is excellent....great idea, great picture, well done Tobers.
ps - if you DO win, can you pick a nice easy theme next month :smashin:

Glad to have broken my Photo Comp duck, and looking forward to next month's theme already

Between four for me.

Gordon: Really like the contrast in this shot. A nice simple subject helped enormously by the composition of the shot, this appeals to me.

C4PRE: Very good photo editing and a great idea.

Gizmo76: Lovely colours and contrast and a great reflection to boot.

Tobers: This was always going to be up there. Brave idea well executed, the arrow adds loads to the shot.

hmmmmmmmmmm difficult.

I'm going for Gordon. It would have been C4PRE but I couldn't bring myself to vote for a combined image i'm afraid, just a personal thing.

Other honourable mentions go to: goso, wobblebottom and iandrews

For me it has to be Tobers.

I love the mood of the picture, the lighting (with a splash of colour to draw your eye in) and the whole "extreme ironing" style thinking. Well done chap.

Special mention also to Gordon. Great shot indeed. great composition.:smashin:

I went for Gordon's shot. I like the style, the calmness and being a good interpretation of the theme.

I think I must have missed something in the last few months. I could have sworn there was a ban on photoshopping to the extent of cutting and pasting a zebra into shot !

Not that im complaining........Im just surprised when the mood was so against anything that wasn't "what the camera saw" otherwise its an art competition.

My entry is going to look like a still from Tron next month

toughey this month in the end a good selection, and in no particular order here are faves

IAndrew - Great shot and colours just missing them blokes swinging down really
Tobers - Cracking execution of the theme and pp work (as usual)
Rich1 - Lovely sharpness and DOF
Jomike - Good find nice composition and PP work
Kraiklyn - Purely for the *** factor
Pinocchio61 - Beautiful scene and composition

In the end I hovered over the button of Kraiklyn and Pinocchio61, I had to reach back to my initial reactions over both these shots and it fell to Kraiklyn:clap:, technically not the best but for pure randomness *** factor and something I NEVER expected to see value it got my vote

Well done everyone

Dear Zone,and Stevegreen.
Can someone please just clarify something for me....

I am faily new to this Forum, and maybe I have miss read the rules, or unware of what can and can't be entered . As I am now not sure. Could you kindly just clarifly the sitation regrading the use of Editing, e.g Photoshopping,or the so called contrived imagines, so that Itwill be clear for furture entries.

From looking at past entries and my photo that was posted in ''Its not valid but I will post it anyway'' ( night and day)People were asking why I had not entred this image, this was a simlar merge of two imagings, Thus I beleaved that it was exceptable as a entry.
I take a lot of time, effort and give a great deal of though to all my entries,I would be very grateful to know what is acceptable before attempting any furture entries, Many thanks for you time.

Also must say that there have been a amazing standard of entries from everyone, making it very hard to choose just one as a winner, I am still starching my head trying to pick one only.So a big well done to you all. Especaily the new members. Making their first entries.

I think that starching your head is taking self-punishment a bit too far, but be sure to post photos :)

I'm obviously not a mod, but for me as long as you took both photos yourself and explained what was done, I don't see a problem with it.
I dare say that a vastly photoshopped image wouldn't get as many votes as an equally impressive image without photoshop, but that's the beauty of the peer voting system - the photographers get to decide when it comes to the voting.

Same with the contrived images - if Gizmo's vacuum cleaner had been discovered/found, I would have thought it more worthy of my vote. At least Gordon risked a night in a cell and gave up a nice pair of shoes to get his :rotfl:
(that's a joke btw just in case someone takes me seriously).

Damn, I knew I should of planned out a story

It was discovered/found at the local tip, and you'll all be happy to know it has returned to it's fellow dysons today :D

Jay,

I think tryingtimes hit it on the head. The rules say you can photoshop what you want. There are plenty of entries each month that are composites. In fact I think Steve may even have entered a composite of several images of himself one month. Last month I posted a composite of around 13-18 images in the "not valid thread" and, like you, many folk thought I should have entered it.

You will just find that some folk prefer images that are not obviously processed or composited. That's just the way it is.
