    Hi guys.

    Just a quick one really.

There are arrows on my audioquest cables and wanted to know why?
    Is to prevent ground loops?
Do they denote signal flow so the arrow goes source-->amp....

This has probably been done to death so sorry if it has.

    Hi Joe.

    Analogue RCA (DAC to amp)
    Digital COAX (CD to DAC)
USB A to USB B (streamer to DAC)
    Optical (presumably no preference)

    Thanks for replying.. :)

Other than an inherent cabling OCD I wouldn’t be worrying about which way around the arrows point :)

    Hey Joe......

    Another question if you will.....

This is my current set up.

    Arcam SR250 AVR
    Spendor A7 L & R
    BK XXLS400 x 2
    PS4 - HDMI
    FREESAT - HDMI
OPPO UPD203 with linear PSU upgrade which cancels out the analogue board - HDMI
NVIDIA SHIELD used for Amazon video, Netflix and accessing my MKV files from a local HDD via Kodi. - HDMI
    NOW TV BOX - HDMI

Obviously, all audio is fed via HDMI which the Arcam downmixes to 2 channel.

I have two new items incoming, an Innuos ZEN mini Mk3 and an RME ADI-2 DAC

The one thing I'm missing is a means of streaming audio via TIDAL and access to my HDD's which contain both movies and music (FLAC files) which the ZEN will fulfil plus, it rips Cd's which is a huge bonus!
Saves me messing about trying to scrape various sites for metadata etc etc.
I have tons and tons of cd's ready to rip so I can't wait for that. :)

The Arcam is absolute garbage for streaming. I hate using it, it's clunky and very 80's in its function. The app is ok I guess but I'm not a big fan.
I'm sorry if any Arcam fans read this, trust me, I love my SR250 but the streaming side feels like its a bolt on or afterthought.

Now...the new DAC. This is where I need help as using it will mean losing DIRAC which I love.

It has an asynchronous USB input, toslink optical and digital coaxial.

Which items from the above would you connect to the DAC which, let's be honest, trounces the DAC in the Arcam.
I have reserved the USB for the ZEN as I may be streaming DSD....

This leaves optical & coaxial...... What do you think Joe?

Say what you want, I won't be offended.

I have ATV 4K, SONOS and TiBo streamers connected to my SR250 (my system is constantly being used to try out various connectivity options) - and agreed the onboard streaming is not worth firing up, too frustrating to use.

I would try using the external DAC with the devices you use most of all and find out which offers the more enjoyable delivery - SR250 with Room Correction or the straight sound of the DAC.

    Thanks Joe.

I'll never forget when I first fired the sr250 up and connected via Spotify app.... 5 minutes later I had threw in the towel.
Internet radio..... Forget about it.. :rotfl::rotfl::laugh:
Easier to let the wife sing to me..

I'll do just that Joe, just plug n play to see what likes what.... The DAC is meant to be fantastic so I'm looking forward to hearing it sing.

Also looking forward to seeing if the Innuos is all its cracked up to be..

    @Joe Fernand

Seen as though you're a SR250 owner, how would you classify this amp musically.
What do you feel its attributes are?
You get people who says things like "warm", "revealing", "analyitcal", "tube-like" etc etc.....

What's your take on it? What speakers are you driving with it?
Do you think power amps (either dual mono or stereo) bring anything to the party as far as output and changing the sound signature is concerned.....

The SR250 is driving my Spendors fine but I'm at the stage where I feel I may get some benefit from either a change of amp or adding power amps....

I love DIRAC though so changing the amp would be a last resort unless I bought a MINIDSP with DIRAC built in......

Hit me with some knowledge Joe..
