I have a ati HD4550 installed in my HTPC which outputs surround sound audio to my onkyo av receiver. I also hoped to output the same audio to another room, someone here mentioned i should be able to connect to the audio sockets on my motherboard but it doesn't seem to work
Can anyone help with this?

I am running XP home.

Cheers

Maybe you already looked at this but why don't you use the zone 2 option on your onkyo.

I did look at the zone 2 option but according to the manual it will only accept analogue signals for zone 2.
The hdmi socket is putting out 5 or meybe even 7.1 for movies. All i want is stereo output from the motherboard for music to the kitchen.

Thanks

it should be working fine providing your motherboard audio isnt disabled, the drivers are installed and your music program of choice is set to use the onboard audio. what program are you using to play the music?

Managed to get a decent go at this last night. Looked at the bios and the onboard audio is sent to auto. The drivers are properly installed and no updates are available.

I was trying this out with Media player and changed the settings in program with no luck.

Also tried it with XBMC same result. I even checked the speakers i was using to test the idea were working as they hadn't been used for a while.

Any further suggestions.
