    Hi

Anyone know if anyone manufacrers an audio-only surround processor?

I don't need any video inputs or switching but would like all audio formats, 7.1 capabilities, audio delay/sync feature and multi-channel analog audio in.

    Thanks

I think that the Bryston is audio only (if you've got the money!). Can't think of any others off hand which don't do video switching.

Part of the idea was to save money - why pay for all that video capability when I don't need it.

I agree - I don't actually use the switching on my C2 at the mo (although will shortly).
It's just that I don't think there are any others available!! Cyrus do one but I don't think it has 7.1 inputs (or much else actually).
Maybe have a look at Linn or Naim stuff - they tend to be purist companies, but I've not checked them out. I think the Meridian stuff has video in, but I may be wrong on this.

Just checked on the Cyrus AV8 - looks like it's available with a 5.1 input for DVD/A and SACD. I doubt that it's got state of the art processing however, but will be a tad cheaper than the Bryston!

My Linn AV5103 has video switching, though it's not that sophisticated.

    Cheers

I don't think it works like this - mass production makes products cheaper, i.e. rather then selling one product with and one without certain features is more expensive in the long run than selling one product that has it all.
They 'have' to offer a product with those features since most consumers demands all the bells and whistles they can get their hands on, so people seeking stripped down versions are probably in the minority ...

Although it is an integrated stereo amp you should not overlook the Arcam A90, this can be fitted with a multichannel input card for DVD-A SACD etc

    Have a look here:

Meridian processors are generally video free - apart from settings/config overlay option. However, only the G68 and 861 have the ability of multichannel analogue in - the 568.2MM does have multichannel digital in for use with DVD-A players from Meridian. Most variants of the G68 do have video switching, except the G68D, but this is digital audio output only.

Spoonfed: Do you know much about the Jungson?
I'm trying to get a UK price on one ATM, I got the UK importer address last week from Jungson but it's slowed down now I've asked the disti for a price. If you have any pointers to info about the AV-1000 I'd be interested.

I know there is a NEW 899 model coming that has analogue inputs and looks more like the 1000 (nothing like the 899 on that site)

Don't know too much about it.. I asked them re the heat of the unit... they said that one can touch it... BUT it would get "unconfortable" if you left your hand on it..... this would be ALWAYS ON as its class A..... Ok for UK but not for Aust! :) hehe

Email the AU contact they may give you some info.

    The 1000 is 44kg!!!!!!!!!! amazing! :)

I think I've seen you over at AVS haven't I?

I have found some info, mostly from translating foreign forums and seen some pictures too. I did ask the UK disti about the amps so maybe they're finding out for me which is why I've not heard back yet. Incidently as you mentioned the weight, the top model is over 50 kilos and the reserve capacity in the power supply is just outrageous. As you'll already know they're called the 'Chinese Krell' and I can see why.
