I have a Windows 7 media center box in one room which holds a large amount of music and provides blu-ray/DVD, internet and Freesat viewing to a plasma screen. In another room I just want a (relatively inexpensive) device that can access JUST the music files on the media center for playback - ie no requirement for video. Anyone know what might be suitable? Happy to get hands dirty building a small form factor device - the big show stopper when I briefly looked at this before was running some kind of user interface to select the music to be played on a (very) small screen - ie what software and what screen?

    Any ideas people?

My Pure One Flow can access music from Win7 - very fiddly interface though. What about a Squeezebox or something like that?

    Squeezebox touch.
Do you have an iPhone or pod/pad or a smartphone?

Yes self build will work, but try this as a cheap option.
Load Logitech media server on your existing pc, install ipeng on you IPhone, and activate the stream to function. You iPod now becomes a virtual squeezebox for less than a tenner. Pop the iPod on a dock or connect to your hifi via the headphone socket and you be able to listen to your music. You should be able to control it via your other smartphone.
On the self build, you can use a nice piece of software that I stalls without an os.
Pm me for the details, as the forum nukes any mention of it

Western Digital HD TV Live or similar would work.

Search on Google for DLNA Renderer.

Many new Blu-ray players also support DLNA.
