Audio only hdmi signal to my receiver?

So I'm looking for some help with my receiver. It's an older onkyo model...don't have the model number handy but could look it up. Awhile back it got an issue with the hdmi inputs. It usually won't accept 1080p signals. I've read online this is a common problem with them.

I just got a ps4 for Christmas and want to take full advantage of it. Currently I can only get sound if I do 1080i video. If I do 1080p I get no sound.

Is there some kind of hdmi splitter that sends ONLY the uncompressed sound? That way I could send the sound to my receiver and the video separately to my tv.

Are you positive it's not your cables? Working ok at 1080i, but not 1080p is nearly always duff cables.

But yes, you can get devices that do what you want.
