Audio Innovations Alto AM1 Amplifier Spares/repairs although currently working absolutely fine Hi all For sale is my Audio innovations Alto AM1 amplifier. It's served me well for a few years but I'm minimising in preparation for travels next month so I'm having to get rid of my 2nd system. This is the AM1 from Richer Sounds, purchased 2006, not the earlier Alto 35. It still sounds lovely. The (currently non-existent!) fault: It worked perfectly, used almost daily from 2006-2010. Usually, when the amp is turned on, there is an orange light in the volume dial which then 'clicks' to green when an input is detected. In 2010 it developed a fault where this light stayed orange and the amp output no sound. I took it to a specialist (Abacus Electronics in Leeds, highly recommended Home) - he replaced a part on the circuit board which fixed this, at a cost of approx £50 (I've since lost the invoice. Sorry I can't remember more details and I'm not very technical. Any questions do please ask and I'll try my best.) This fixed it and the amp worked fine until late 2011, when the exact same fault reappeared. It's very tempremental - sometimes it will work fine, other times it will get stuck on orange. I've been testing it lately, and for the last 5 days it has worked fine every day. But I didn't want to list it as working as there's a chance the fault will rear its head again. Please see more details below, and any questions just ask. I'm also selling my Mission M71i bookshelf speakers and Marantz CD 5400 CD player. Please see my other posts for details. Full details below: About the amplifier: Unfortunately I don't have the original box or manual so don't have full spec. There's info spread around the net, hopefully you audiophiles will know more about this mythical amp! Can you tell I was sold on the looks?! That said, I know the original 35 got incredible reviews and has become a bit of a legend. From what I've read, the AM1 sounded as good but had reliability issues. More info: Purchased 2006 from Richer Sounds Leeds Unfortunately I don't have receipt any more so can't be more specific on date. Also means no warranty as far as I know. Sadly I got rid of packaging when moving house. Condition: Front face of chrome panel is fine with no scratches, but there are some scuffs as it bevels round to the top. On the left a couple of these scratches are slightly deeper and show minor signs of corrosion. please see photos. Some strange dull 'blotches' on the main body. Please see photos. One of the four feet is missing - needs replacing or something else to prevent amp from rocking. Currently working fine, but there is a potential fault - please see detail above. Very slight crackle when adjusting volume at lowest point. Barely been used since 2010 - I upgraded and this formed part of my 2nd system. Price: £80 not including postage Postage: Collection preferred from Blackpool or Leeds areas (I spend time between the two, and can travel a little to meet up). Alternatively if you arrange your own courier I will package them up securely.
