My PC is all up and running again but the sound card does not work.

Creative Diagnostics say fail - refit the card!

Does this mean the card is duff?

Thanks

Hi, Have you tried refitting the card in its PCI slot? It may be that the sound card is not sitting properly.

or try another pci slot altogether.
Have you got up to date drivers installed?
If you have on board sound on your motherboard make sure it's switched off in the bios otherwise it can cause conflicts:(

Reseated it, tried a different slot, checked the bios.

The builders have ordered a spare main card and will check it for me Monday!

I notice on another thread that your using a new mobo. Have you installed all the chipset drivers etc for the mobo?
Have you got another system you can try the sound card in to see if it works in that? It'd rule out a borked sound card or at least identify if your mobo is to blame:)

Also, make sure that if the new mobo has on-board sound, disable it to rule out any conflicts
