I have just got an Audi A3 1.8T and I am wanting to upgrade the factory fitted System to a decent sounding one.

I have a few bits of kit already from my golf but the mid's won't fit the audi.

    I have
    Rockford 5x Amp
    Rockford 2X Sub Amp
    2x Diamond 10" subs
    Macrom 6" Mids
    JVC Sh909 CD/MP3 Headunit.

    Any Ideas???

    Cheers:)

hmm.. tbh.. it depends on how much you wanna cut the audi about.. and how much money you wanna spend obviously your used to nice sound with punchy bass..

imo, throw the jvc away and buy a nice alpine. keep the amps and subs and buy a new set of mids and tweets which will fit in the front.. or go to a specialist dealer and get them to install some kickpanel builds for the macroms.. ( i got some nice Diamond componants to match those subs) ;)

its basically to pad out your car to stop panels vibrating, sound leaking and road noise coming in. i spent £300 on sound deadening material alone for my subaru. that was trade price as well heh. i coulda spent alot more. but you can spend alot less, depending on how rattle'y your car is.. but you would have to obviously put labour charges on top of that..

it is a must if you want every little bit out of your system and want to compete in competitions. but for someone who wants a nice bassline without spending lots of cash then it isnt worth the amount of money it would cost imo.

    sound deadening is good stuff....

I had a load of it in my old Golf Mk4 and it sounded Ace... shame some fool decided to loose control of his car and write mine off....

Thats why I have the Audi now and all the questions... Cheers for your replys...

As for the JVC remarks... I got the JVC because I couldn't get an Alpine at the time... I really wanted one as well but no one could get hold of the unit I was after....

So The dealer ended up doing me a JVC to see if i was happy with that...

And the unit was pretty good... I've had a alot of problems with Reliability though... its been back 4 times...

Mine was the sh77 and that went back twice eventually they swapped it for a 909r which was ok before the car crash...

not sure it'll still work because it was playing a cd at the time of the impact..

oh well we'll see next week when i get my kit back....
