It'll be a while before I can get to work on the attic, just mulling it over at the moment.. but some questions here anyway for those experts lurking on here. ;)

Semi-d 3 bedroom house, average size.

    1.
Getting some experts in to do the the attic conversion with the steel supports, electrics, flooring, walls etc. Sockets at front and back. Small window.

    2.
Then soundproofing of party wall and perhaps the attic floor - this is stop the noise leakage into the neighbours home. It's a semi-detached house. Will need to get the experts in for that too.

    3.
Finally I can work out the screen and projector etc myself, but presume most people install a small room to house their equipment near the back of the room and run the speaker cables from the front speakers and centre speakers to the receiver at the back of the room.

I'm just trying to envisage the order of events, whilst considering running wires under the floorboards and all that jazz, plus when the best time would be to start the sound-proofing.. after the attic is converted or before, after the walls are done but before the floor-boards are put down or what? I know there are a few topics but don't wish to resurrect ancient threads.

Any tips from those in the know?

    Hi,

I'd suggest studying these threads and asking the owners' advice:

I'm assuming the experts you are using are solely for the tasks employed... ie. a team for the build and another team for the 'soundproofing?' - in which case maybe a good idea to have a joint meeting to ensure an integrated approach to finalising your project. Otherwise try to find a team who specialise with these sort of projects or at least appoint a project co-ordinator who understands your remit.

    Best of luck!

Thanks yeah some of those are extremely impressive. The problem is the thin walls I can hear the neighbours talking loud if I'm in the living room or bedroom. It has to be well sound-proofed and I don't know the first thing about sound-proofing techniques.
The second link you posted in very interesting that regard thanks.

By 'experts' I mean anyone except me as I am useless at DIY. :p
