Being a massive anime fan, it's great to see reviews like this and giving exposure to a great medium of entertainment. Thanks for the review Cas!!!

AOT season 2 was better than season 1 in every way imo. Like you said in your review, bigger budget and greater time has been taken to up it's production.

It's a great watch but do not believe it's a masterpiece by any means.

I love anime but don’t know where to start
Beside the usual dbz movies I have and couple of others.
Is there a list of top 5 or 10 must have
I like this one but you don’t rate it as reference
Curious to know your best off
      Thanks in advance

Cowboy Bebop is a classic series (quite short). One Punch man is a recent series & is great fun.

@Casimir Harlow great informative review as always. Just wanted to check, on the review you said it’s a Funimation release? I’ve never come across a UK release from them before, only US imports. So no longer Manga releasing their titles in the UK?

Anime has many genres and I grew up on the Shounen like Dbz myself. Even in my thirties I still like my shounen

Attack on Titan is a great shounen show and would Recommend giving it a go.

Myanimelist is like anime’s IMDb and is a good place to get a list of top anime.

Some of my favs that I like to recommend for people who are starting out or looking to explore more into it

      Death note
      Steins gate
      Cowboy bebop
      Hajime no oppo

      Shounen:
      Full metal alchemist: brotherhood
      Hunter x hunter 2011
      One punch man
      Code geass
      Fate zero
      Fate stay night

      Romance/comedy
      Clannad and clannad afterstory
      Your lie in April
      Toradora
      Angel beats

      Films
      Your name
      A silent voice

Just some off the top of my head but really depends on the genre. if you want some recommendations just gimme a pm.

Thanks, I was a little surprised too but the PR discs have UK - Funimation written all over them!

I'm assuming you've seen Ghost in the Shell because, for me at least, that's really the defining anime franchise. There's some classic (maybe even better) anime from decades past, but few franchises have crossed the best part of 30 years and produced consistently decent bodies of work across that entire period. There are a slew of films and TV series to check out. And don't be put off by the disappointing Hollywood remake. (Appleseed has also done well to cross the decades with new variations)

Also are you more for shorter runs or okay with watching long series (since you mentioned DBZ movies & not TV series).

If long series are on the cards, my absolute favourite anime series is One Piece, but it’s very long.
It’s not the best selling manga of all time for nuthin’ :D:)

Think they’re up to 800+ of the anime in Japan at the moment. English release lags behind somewhat, which gives Goldorak some time to catch up :D

      Edit - 826
      Episode 826

Wow, I didn’t realise there was so many...
Many thanks guys, I willhave a look at everything you proposed...exciting

I should have started an anime thread instead of polluting this review with my questions. Apologies.

      Many thanks again
Note: I love dbz and seen ghost in the shell and some anime classics. I also like beautiful animation of all types (series or movies). Will review all the stuff you mentioned

This genre is the kind that would benefit immensely from a streaming service.

I like Manga/Anime but not seen a lot. Only the usual suspects like Akira, Ghost In The Shell, Ninja Scroll, High School of The Dead

So it's mainly more adult stuff I like, but in essence, I don't really know what I should try or not. So to have try anything service without committing too much money would fly with me.

Berserk (original) and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood are musts too.

Loved Season 2 but after such a long wait I was disappointed to learn it was only going to be 12 episodes but it just meant I savoured each one lol

Thank god it’s not another 4 year wait for the next season though, that should air this year :)

Crunchyroll is a good legal streaming service & they have a lot of good content. Even new stuff like Dragon Ball Super. I know they’ve got Attack on Titan series 1, but I haven’t checked if they have series 2.

It’s free with ads or you can pay a subscription for ad free. I’ve got their app on my PS4 & PS3, but I’m sure they’ve got apps available on lots of other devices as well.

Netflix and amazon have invested quite a lot over the last 12 months in anime.

Devil man crybaby is Netflix’s latest ‘original’ anime! :D

Quite eccentric but reminded me of the early 90’s darker side of anime.
