Universal release in the UK on 4/2 on SD, wonder why there is no HD DVD?
10th March at Play
Thanks, couldnt see it listed in their coming soon lists.
This could be the big oscar winner this year, shame it probably wont get any promotion from an HD DVD perspective.
Looking forward to Atonement; the trailers looked great.
Based on the trailers I've seen Atonement is certaqinly a 'must have' for me - I don't think Universal have announced it yet for a US HD DVD release, I suspect that it will be part of the HD DVD announcements coming 'mid January', but hopefully they will give it the full works (including a TrueHD soundtrack please!).
dont think it came out in the US till December
DVD Times are confirming the March 10 debut for the UK HD DVD release of Atonement. Specs include:
- 1080P 1.85:1 Widescreen
- Dolby Digital Plus soundtracks in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Japanese
- Feature Commentary with Director Joe Wright
- Deleted scenes
- 'The Making of Atonement'
- 'Novel to Screen'
...disappointing to see there is no TrueHD track - I wonder if the US version will sport one (just like the US release of Bourne Ultimatium did). I wonder how far adrift the US release will be though?
Universal have announced a 18 March release date for the US HD DVD of Atonement. It will be a DVD/HD DVD combi. HD DVD side will feature VC1 1080p/24 with English and French Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 soundtracks.
- Deleted Scenes
- Bringing the Past to Life: The Making of Atonement feature
- From Novel to Screen: Adapting a Classic feature
- Commentary with Director Joe Wright
It's going to be the last one from Universal.
Disappointing really - it now looks like we have now have to endure a hiatus in Universal high def releases whilst we await them to setup their Blu-ray production - personally I would have much preferred they kept HD DVD releases going until then.
On the positive side though at least Atonement is being released - I would have been really miffed if I had been made to wait months before it arrived.
