    Hey there.

I am finally going to get my new receiver which comes with Atmos.

I am lucky that I have easy access to the loft above and speakers will take minutes to install.

As part of ongoing improvements I am fully insulating the loft space with celotex which leads me onto the question.

What affect if any will putting celotex above the speakers have, do I have to allow room above the speakers for air flow or does it not matter. If i do have to leave a gap what is the standard?

Anyone have experience of good atmos speakers want to give a recommendation, they need to be flush in the ceiling?

    thanks

You really need to box in the speakers in the loft space. This not only improves bass response but keeps out all the dust and rubbish too. I made mine from MDF and sealed around the edges with silicone, after that it doesn't matter which insulation is used.

I've fitted B&W CCM382 which fit between the joists perfectly, like you i can get into my loft really easily

did you literally make the box to be flush with the top of the joist?

Yes that's it and sealed the edges with silicone to keep the dust out
