Question Atmos ceiling speakers and the height of front and rear speakers

I recently paid for my AV system to be migrated to another side of the room to deal with noise complaints from a neighbour. They fitted it all as it was and I was wondering that as since Im spending all this money, maybe I should pay more and get the Denon xr2500 and a couple of ceiling speakers for about £450. The thing is my existing system is something like this (with side speakers instead of the atmos ones) and a 7.1 and I was thinking of going for a 5.1.2 atmos setup. Also my front and rear speakers are all wall mounted and the bottom is at the height of about 5 foot. This is ear height standing, but certainly not sitting. I have heard that the Atmos effects of ceiling speakers would be diminished if the front and rear speakers are not at seated ear level, so my question is how much by and is it worth upgrading my AV receiver at all (a Sony DH820 from 2011 which I rarely have over a quarter volume)? Hope someone can advise. Also is there a big difference if you use decent budget ceiling speakers for Atmos as supposed to specifically atmos integrated (whatever that means)? Thanks
