    Hi there

Is the above card ok for a non games machine running TT2 and ffdshow with an XP2.8 ?

I'm hoping the card will not impact image quality as its simply being used for the digital out and has 'reasonable' performance.....

    cheers
    Neil

    Hi.

The 'power' of the card isn't important to an HTPC unless you're going to use VMR rendering and use controls such as Anisotropic Filtering and other tweaks. In a software-only processing mode, ie. not using hardware-assisted MPEG decoding, then the quality of the image is dependent on the rendering done by the Overlay device (Overlay is better on ATIs than VMR in the main).

The 8500 is certainly okay in that regard from what I can recall, it certainly isn't 'bad'.
