    Looks like this might be ATI's answer to NVidia's PureVideo products. On the ATI website they say this will be in their 'next generation' gfx cards. Which I suppose will be the X1800, X1600 and X1300 series. See Here.

    built in H.264 hardware decode assistance - part of ATI's Avivo technology and the encoding standard for both BluRay and HD-DVD. H.264 decoding requires significant processing - a 3.6Ghz P4 runs at around 90 - 95% CPU usage without acceleration, compared to around 33% with R520 GPU acceleration

    As I understand it, anything from the 6200 range and above will be given official nVidia H.264 capabilities in the near future thru their "release 80" drivers.

    It's just restricted to 7800 range at the mo'.
