Have a search through this forum, there's a few threads about it, including registry hacks to get it to work

Yes, the absolute latest version of PowerDVD would be a good start. Also, be aware that the 2400PRO doesn't actually have enough real grunt to decode full 1080P (note the P). It will be fine for 720P/1080i though.

Being aware of this, I bought a 2600XT which can handle everything.

well have the latest version of dvd pro and latest drivers but still no hardware acceleration showing ,i now have a hd dvd and blueray drive attached to Intel E2140 Pentium Dual Core Socket 775 2x1.60GHz pc with ati 2400 card , hd dvd runs at about 50% and blueray at 90%-100% ,this is without hardware acceleration and not overclocked , if i overclocked to about 2 ghz then should be no problem but why buy a card with acceleration and not use or able to use .

Other way round. Progressive stuff is easy for it - I ran up to 50mbit AVC without any problem. Interlaced is much more difficult, because the shaders have to deinterlace as well as scaling, and if it's mpeg2 that's done in the shaders too (vc1/h264 is done on the UVD chip). As a result, 1080i mpeg2 is too much for them.
