Is the footage included on the disc shown "as it was live" or is it edited down to a basic concert?

I guess they have cut the gaps inbetween acts as the running time is about ten hours we were there longer than that
from what i can remember it started at 12-00 & we left Wembley about 11-00 at night & it carried on over in the states after that

I've still got the whole thing recorded on VHS and reel-to-reel tape! Haven't really ever watched it since recording it ... but I'll probably buy the DVD!

Apparently the only act to have originally not given consent for their performance to be included, is Led Zeppelin. Does anyone know if that's now been resolved? I'll probably buy this, for Queen alone, but the whole thing was an outstanding concert. It will certainly be interesting to see how the DVD has been edited.

I'm sure I read , heard , or saw an interview with Sir Bob ,saying that their had was been pretty much forced into doing it due to the number of bootlegs about

On PLAY.COM the details state over 10 hours on four discs

I'm sure I read , heard , or saw an interview with Sir Bob ,saying that (is there an echo in here :D ) the first time round he played everyone off against each other, also said he would go to the press and say A , B and C are going to perform , but D , E & F said no. If he's still involved (he would be wouldn't he ?) then I would imagine he would use the same tactics again
    something along the lines of

    Sir Bob:
Hey LED ZEP can we use the footage of you for the dvd

    LED ZEP :
    No

    Sir Bob :
ok you I'll tell you what Im gonna : do I'm gonnas go on every chat show , tell them you said NO , then on the dvd , for the entire duration of your set I will show a blank screen stating "Led Zep will not consent to us using the footage co they want paying this time round "
( :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: )
    insert :censored: where applicable )

Sir bob got his way the first time , I'd imagine he 'll get his way the second :smashin:

Led Zep are not included in the footage as they felt they put on a "below par performance" and did not want to be shown in this way, however to make up for this they have donated all the royalties from their forthcoming release to the Live Aid charity.

    **EDIT**
    Aah..beaten to it..

...and I believe Paul McCartney has re-recorded some of his vocals. They weren't up to scratch due to a "technical glitch" apparently.

/me logs into play.com and orders this baby.

I was a BIG BIG fan of Madonna at the time, and her version of into the groove was different to the one released on the like a virgin album. I watched the VHS many times (before the reel snapped) on my 'piano key' style recorder - the remote had wires!!! (you could play at 2x with the remote - w000t)

Now, being a music fan, i wished i had seen the full concert, and not just the few artists that i did see, so having the chance to own this on DVD has made me very happy.

Yes its a shame that not all acts/footage was recorded, or remastered, or artists saying no to the dvd, but this is a must for all music fans.
(i may order 2 and keep one wrapped, how sad is that!! LOL)

I know i'm gonna feel old when watching this, when my son will be asking 'who's that ?'
    :D

Should I feel slightly guilty, as it's for chariddee, to be waiting for the R1, which will probably be half the price?

It's such a shame about Led Zep, because, poor performance or not, I would have liked to have seen them again. It does seem that the DVD set is going to be somewhat incomplete, but I too have the entire 16 hours on VHS (somewhere!), although it was only recorded in Mono, as it was before we had NICAM in this area.
