I've been pondering as to why Astra a primarily European and PAL/50hz signal provider would be testing/demoing a 60hz HD loop. Without going too deeply into it is it just possible that Astra believe that 60hz HDTV signals could be on the way to Europe at least via satellite. If so (and of course it is an if) is it possible that Sky would go the 60hz route instead of 50hz. I know it's a test and just speculation but is it not food for thought. Of course there may be a simple explanation but for the Euro1080 STB to get a 60hz fix just for a test signal, doesn't that seem a little OTT?

Possibly. The way I see it is that there is no need for us to worry about what refresh rate the broadcasters use. All HD sets should be able to cope with a variety of input signals. Certainly if they want to use 60hz instead of 50 thats fine by me :D
