I have just got this, the case says it's 2.35.1. I have a panasonic widescreen t.v and when playing it the bars at the bottom of the screen are twice as big as the one at the top. is this meant to be like this? or have I got a duff copy.

Not seen this lately but I think it did display the movie as
you described it (watched on Sony Wega) but as long it
is in 2:35 i'm not to worried.

The Insider being one of my favourite films, I was surprised when I put the DVD on for the first time the other day and got exactly the same problem as described above. I was using the R1 copy and thought it was duff so got hold of the R2 but it's exactly the same.

Has anyone else come across this or a possible solution?

Is this sorted of related to my 'confused' post. The ratio on the package is 2 :35 : 1.

I ended up setting the PJ to 4:3 to restore the ratio, otherwise eveything was squeezed / stretched.

Playing it at 16:9 made the the back bars at the top and bottom far larger than usual.

I tried changing the aspect ratio on the player, but this did nothing at all to the size of the picture.

I had the same problem when I first had the system set up, the player was set to 4:3 and the PJ to 16:9, gave exactly the same effect.

I saw your other post mate but I'm not sure it's the same problem. From what I could gather, the black bars were off equal size but too large on your PJ? The problem with the Insider is that the top black bar is about half the size of the bottom one - but it is in it's correct ratio. It just seems to be off-center. Very stange .

    HI,

I think that Buena Vista ballsed-up the release. I mean this was an Oscar-nominated movie, with two of the best cinema actors of recent times, along with one of the best ever US directors, and what do we get: a piddly little featurette, a small bit of the script and a trailer! At least it was better than the R2 edition, which didn't even get those!

Damn you House-Of-Mouse!!! They should be banned from releasing anything but their own material on to DVD's!
